I need help! I put my rear sunshade up today on my 98 540i, then i pushed the button to bring it back down and nothing happens. The motor isn't even making noise or anything. I kept pushing the button repeatedly and eventually it went down half way then stopped. So i pushed the button again and it went back up, and now its not working at all again. Does any one have any idea what could be wrong here? Or if anyone knows of a way to bring it down manually that would be great too. I can't drive the car at night now cause I can't see out the back window! :shifty

I tried removing the darn thing seeing that I don't even really use it, but I can't even figure that out. Looks like I'm gonna have to get it fixed. I've only had this car for 3 weeks now and its the 5th thing thats gone wrong. Already replaced front window regulator, hood release cable, and I still need rear wheel bearings and front endlinks. Errrr just my luck.

Yeah these cars can get pricey if you have other people doing the work....

I think you are having the same problem that the E38 has with the power rear shade. Search e38.org for more info.
