So I recently purchased a set of used post 01 Hella Euro Halogen Projects along with a Extreme Automotive Accessories H7 8000k HID kit from a fellow forum member. I got the stuff and I am a bit baffled on how to hook everything up. The DIY Hella halogen projector HID upgrade has been helpful and I pm'd that poster to get some more detail, thank you for his response. But I am still pretty lost. I have already bought or ordered some additional parts to get this installed, but now am not sure what I need and don't need. Well, I do know I need some help.:help:eyecrazy

In addition the lights and the HID kit, here are the other parts I bought or have ordered.

For the AE harness based on BMWtips.com
2- BMW wire harnesses p/n 63 12 0 025 499
2- BMW wire harnesses p/n 63 12 0 025 497
heat shrink, 18 guage wire and solder
I have not made the new AE harness yet, I was holding off until I know for sure how this all goes together to get the lights installed and functional. But looking at the lights I don't see how the AE end plug would fit any where on the back of these headlights?

It appears that none of the bulb holders on my stock 2000 halgens will fit these lights. I pulled off the stock low beam, high beam and turn and I don't see how they could fit these lights. Do I need to order all new post 01 bulb holders?

I also just ordered the following from Crown based on the parts listed in the DIY HID upgrade for halogens. Not sure when it will arrive, I just placed the order late last night via the web. Not sure if I need all this but it wasn't a lot of money and I want to get these dang things installed. I don't want to be waiting on more parts. You can see from the pictures I am posting below, these ballasts came with some brackets, but the Hella bracket was so cheap I got those too.

Qty Description Core Price
2- Adapter H7 bulb holder p/n 63 12 6 904 051 will have to be cut and glued to HID bulb based on DIY.
2 - Stick on label xenon-light p/n 71 237 165 545
1- Bracket, control unit Left - W/xenon p/n 63 12 6 907 423
1- Bracket control unit Right - W/xenon p/n 63 12 6 907 424

The one part I didn't order was the support xenon light light control units p/n 63 12 6 907 422 from the DIY article. I think with the Hella control bracket and the brackets included with the HID kit, I won't need those. (he crosses fingers)

Since I have pre 01 non AE lights, I am not even sure what all the connections on the back of these new ones are for? Sorry for the long story, but I really need some help and direction. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.:D

Left to right on this photograph; high beam placement is correct, the questioned part is where the angel eye lamp plugs in, the triangular unit in the middle is actually the motor for auto leveling lamps, the low beam placement is correct and the turn signal placement is correct. Hopefully this helps, if only a little, take care!

Help a little, that helps a lot! The seller did forget to include the AE bulbs which are in the mail and on the way. So that probably added a bunch to my confusion.

He sent me this today "as far as the ae looms. don't waste the money. I included t-taps in the package that you will use to tap into the headlights, fogs or indicators"

So until that package arrives, I won't know what the heck to do. If I don't need the AE harness like I though, I will build them and put them up for sale or sell all the parts as a kit.

Ahh, the auto level motor. Does that mean these have the ability to auto-level if I get the motors? Or does that connection just need a power source or is it useless? I didn't think the Hella Euro Halogens had that option, but clearly what do I know.(he chuckles at self at own expense:rolleyes)

Also, you won't need the red/black wire with the blue plug shown in the 'HID kit' picture. Your stock wiring plugs directly into the ballast, or the small lead from the resistor pack will plug into the ballast.

Ok, I was wondering about that one. That set of wires also had some 10A 32v fuses inline. Not sure what those were for either.

Thanks again to all, getting closer with every post!

The Big red question marks are for the angel eye bulb.

BTW the naked leads usually plug into the stock harness. GOOD kits usually unclude the right plug to slip onto the factory harness. I did notice alot of people just plug in the factory harness plug into the ballast. I personally dont like that since it really isnt the best fit and you are forcing the plug into the ballast. In your case, you are going to have to do it the forced way since you dont have any plugs to go with the naked leads.

Ok, I plugged the factory low beam plug into one of my ballasts that had the HID bulb hanging off of it. Fired up the car and lights and we have HID light! I think since this is a H7 HID kit, the plug on the ballast is designed to exaclty fit the factory plug, it snapped right into place, no forcing or any manupilation needed. Getting closer!:redspot
