Thanks Bill boodyman@msn.com First, let me give a disclaimer: I am no NAV expert. My opinions should not be relied upon in the context of this sale. Any buyer should do his due diligence as to what he wants and is getting. I am just trying to be helpfu. With the above having been said: MKIII is the "next gen" CD based Navigation computer that was only available from BMW factory cars between mid 2000-2002. This system uses 8 CDROMs to map the US, but does support split screen. MKII is the old style Navigation computer which works with the Widescreen display but is slow and does not support BMW's newest Graphic User Interface featuring split screen functionality. Yes, Mk3 nav unit is 100% plug and play w/ Mk2 stuff. Yes, all Mk2 maps will work with it. Yes, Mk3 is for the widescreen monitor. Your console will look the same as it does now (the nav unit goes in the trunk). Not sure if your monitor's graphics will change with an upgrade to M3 vs. Mk2. Mad Dog 20/20 05-19-2008, 10:26 AM . |
