Just put in order with local dealer for a 550i sport jet black with all options. After the initial test drive, I remember having to pull the door handle twice to open the door. Sales guy mentioned something about being a safety feature. Is there any way to disable this feature?

No, it cannot be disabled. But you can use the central locking button on the dash first and then just pull the handle once.

You can disable automatic locking altogether via iDrive, but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.

You have to pull the door handle twice only if the doors are locked. The first time you pull the handle the door unlocks, the second time you pull the door handle the door opens. You can adjust the door locking preferences in Idrive.
