I'll try to get there early. Unfortunately I do have some bad news. I intend to have my car's bumper fixed the week before that (stupid hit and run f***er... and there's the chance that it may not get finished in time..

Oh yea.. if some of you are early birds, you're more than welcome to chill at my house before going to Fry's in the morning. AND.. I'm looking into a new head unit.. so if you see my car in the parking lot with no one near it.. try checking inside by the car audio.. :D

The route for the drive will probably be to take the backside of 89 to Prescott through Wickenburg, I haven't figured out that route yet, but I'll have it all up shortly.

That's too bad Adam. Why don't you just hop a ride with someone? I'm sure we have plenty of open passenger seats!

And if you don't come, you'll be missing out on running against this.....sorry Matt, I had to do it...your face was just too "out of it" to not...plus I was in a state of boredom.

I just came back from Fry's.... looked at some head units and scouted out the area... looks like the best place is in the north east corner of the lot... right behind the Metro North stone sign...

there may be a slight problem though.. road construction at the entrance of the I-17 and we gotta turn left.... I was looking for a place to enter to turn right on the freeway.. there is a home depot over there too.... but the fry's does have ample parking...

I scouted around some more for meeting locations.. here's what I got.. they're all just off the I-17 and T-bird...

1. Fry's Electronics - NE corner, ample space, open area, easy to find and see people.

2. Lowell's - NE corner, A little bit clustered, somewhat hidden by a wall, next to McDonald's

3. Walgreens - South side facing T-bird, smallest parking lot but should be sufficient, a little hidden, right next to Wendy's!!!, allows easiest access to freeway by turning right... less chance of losing people..

They're all within half of a mile of each other I'd say.. and right off the exits of the I-17 and Thunderbird.. close to food.. not really close to gas stations.. but there are some around.. chevron and texaco..

Which do you guys prefer? Or if someone knows of a better spot..

ArcticSilverM3
05-26-2003, 07:04 PM
I think Fry's would be the best bet. I have been up there a few times and it's got a lot of space, and is really easy to spot after coming off of I-17.

Side note: Hopefully most everyone can make to the Pavillions on Saturday night, so we can have a pre-meet to discuss the specifics. Anyway, I'm pretty excited...see you guys there!

Marvelphx
05-27-2003, 05:04 AM
I have a race to shoot that Saturday, but if you want to come up after the Pavilions, you're more than welcome to...

Ok, well the drive is here, technically. Sunday is close so here are the final details.

Those who are attending...well I'm not going to go through the list again so those coming you know who you are.

We are meeting at

Fry's Electronics - NE corner, ample space, open area, easy to find and see people. At 9:00 AM we're leaving at 10:00 AM Sharp!

Which is located at the I-17 and Thunderbird. No one should have a problem with finding it. And the parking lot, well how many nice cars could possibly be collecting there at 9 AM Sunday morning.

The route we're taking is the I-17 North to Prescott and we'll return via the 89 around Jerome to Grand Avenue. That'll be the easiest route to follow.

Ok, also things to bring:

Engine coolant (if you think you may need it)
Walkie-talkie (anything compatible with Motorola talkabouts and such)
Water
Car kits (i.e. tools for flats, emergencies, etc.)
Jumper cables (duh)
???????? (If you think it's important bring it)

See you all there!

Best regards,

Chris

what he means is Fry's Electronics is just west of the I-17 and just south of Thunderbird... :stickoutt

and.. factoring in that Chris is on azn time, showing up at 9:00 AM means 9:30AM and leaving at 10AM sharp means leaving at 10:30 AM, but no later than 11 AM... :finger22: ... heheh.. just kidding buddy.. :D

What other non-BM's are showin up besides Audi's? Any high (500+) hp cars gonna roll? I've got some Supras interested, but they're wondering if they'll be welcome...lemme know

jbob
05-30-2003, 01:15 AM
i think chris said there's gonna be a couple scoobies & a c5.
IMO, if ur supra friend's are cool and don't drive all crazy it'd be cool (definately don't want any accidents, close-calls, or extra attention from the police).

AzN_M5
05-30-2003, 02:05 AM
They're more then welcome to come, but like Jason said. As long as they behave themselves and don't go all nuts it's cool. Police, accidents, etc. would definitely not be cool.

Yeah, on the drive we have a Z06, 2 350Zs, a ton of Audis, and I think a couple WRXs. So some Supra action would be quite cool.

Also, it has been a long time since I have been to Prescott. Where can we all eat that has enough seating and parking to handle a crowd as large as ours.

We're talking like 40 people...I think. Any ideas?

Kinda short notice, but hey...I forgot :D

Post quick people! I already posted this on the AZ Audi forum...so don't bother telling me to post there.

See you guys there!

Regards,

Chris

I'm sure somewhere like the Casio would be able to accomadate us. Not quite too sure the Casino would have good food or would be the best way to have a short lunch but hey, just a thought

AzN_M5
05-30-2003, 02:25 AM
For this particular trip, it's not the food it's the company. And you're right. The Casino would not be a short lunch. Suddenly we'll have people walking home after their cars are repossessed.

I suppose we could do something like stop at a grocery store for food and then go to a good place for pictures and do like a picnic thing.

:dunno

Iniquity
05-30-2003, 04:37 AM
Z06's I can handle... all around american favorite sports car.. the only one I'd ever consider buying.. corvette that is...

350Z's.. the mutha of all nissan's.. I want one just as much as an E46 M3.. almost... looking forward to seeing those...

WRX's.. I think they're ugly as sports cars can get... but they're definitely cool ass cars and I've always wanted to test drive one... should be cool...

BUT Supras?!? Ahh heeeeeeelllll no.... I'm sorry.. I just hate supras... I used to like them until I realized how obnoxious they and they're drivers are... the only thing bigger and louder than their coffeecans are the mouths, ego, and attitude of their drivers... I know the turbo ones are impressive performers that I respect.... but still.. I just hate supras... so I really do hope.. if they come.. that their drivers aren't egotistical assholes.... i haven't met one that isn't yet... so my hopes are very low... sorry if I'm being biased.. but I have had no good experiences with Supra people.. no offense to your friends Misanthrope (sorry.. forgot your name.. haven't seen you since Feb :D )

And I hope no one gets butthurt by this post.. because that's not what it was meant for.. I love cars for what they are.. it's the drivers that tick me off.. and in turn give their cars bad reps... we all know how that feels right??

I dunno.. i just have a bad feeling about the supras.. :95 :devillook :help but.. hey.. everything will probably be okay and they'll turn out to be cool guys, right? :)

AzN_M5
05-30-2003, 10:23 AM
Yeah, I hear you Shane.

There is no doubt that a majority of Supra drivers think they're hotter than anything else out there.

So far though, it seems like these Supra owners are pretty cool. I mean, they did have the courtesy to find out whether or not their presence would be welcome. That's a start. And they're Bryan's friends, I assume they are, and he's cool. I'm sure everything will turn out great and the only unfortunate thing occurring is me getting my a$$ kicked by something with twice the horsepower.

See you guys there!

I wish I could go, I really really do, but right now taking my car up to 30 hurts like hell. My drive shaft is banging around in there soooo much >.<!!!! Hopefully I'll be there to hang out. If anyone wants to take me as a passenger, that's cool, but I doubt anyone would be too willing.

I'm like Matt, I love my E21. And if your car was 50 times more expensive than my E21 you'd only have 75k. I think Z8's are a bit more than that, but I don't know a whole lot out side of the 3 series (where I've been doing my homework for the past 2 months)

And besides, even if I don't go for a ride with you guys, I'm going to at least go into Fry's and drool at some new Readeon's and fire wire hard drives and so forth. Computer modding was what I got into first, but it's taken a back seat since I got my car. :)

Who are the Supra schmucks? What are their names and turbo setups? I may know some of them.

If any of the cars are NA that would have to be the gayest thing this side of the Golden Gate Bridge.:(

I don't know. My dad just told me he would like to join us, so I have to find out whether or not he wants to drive or ride with me.

I know I promised you the seat so i'm going to push his driving the M5...I mean, why would he want to ride instead of drive?

Are you coming to the pre-wash today?

Talk to you later!

My first post. So don't slam me for:

1) not knowing your forums that well,
2) being a n00b
3) having an A4 !!! LOL
4) if my sig is too big (I can change it!)

I had a blast at this drive yesterday, and it was great to see such a strong turnout for both Bavarian powerhouses! Yes, Ingolstadt where my A4 was made is in Bavaria...

Anyway - have any of you posted pics from the drive? Check out our post-drive discussions and pics over at azaudi.org!

This trip was awesome! Can't wait for round two, especially after I get on teh PSS9s and maybe some sway's. I want more twisties! I was reading on AZAudi.com and I agree with a lot of what they say, we definately need to set up a map and prearranged meetins spots for a group of this size. Besides that, Chris thanks for a great trip besides the fact that my car felt like it was going to roll on the twisties going up to yarnell it was awesome (I felt fairly safe, my wheels weren't slipping at all but da*n thats a lot of body roll). So, whens the next drive? I think we should try to do something like the first weekend of every month. Someone on the Audi forum mentioned some lake of US60. Let's set up another drive with them, good group!

Thanks - it was fun for us as well. I would love to see more frequent GTGs although we'll have to be cautious. We already noticed a bit of police presence on this last drive, and I wonder if frequent 25+ car drives won't inspire some evil-meaning old lady in a Buick to call us in ... you know?

Anyway, I'm all for more GTGs - it was a great showing!
