Hello to Evryone. I wish I could join you all at Sharkfest but it's a big drive down from Canada and I am bogged down with schoolwork right now. Maybe next year when Bruce (named after he mechanical shark in JAWS) is a little more polished I'll head down.

My qution is this: I need to replace my shocks in the coming months and I am wondring what the best value vs. performance combonation would be ? I was thinking about the Bilstein sport w Bavarian auto combo, like the one currently listed on ebay. Is anyone running this setup ? How are the Bav auto coils ? Is there a cheaper option than Bilstein ?

Lastly, what other parts should I replace while I am doing the shocks. I was planning on replacing the bushings and such. What bushings work best ?

As always any help would be most appreciated. P.S. I will post some pics tonight of the new to me dash I just put in.

I love the sports with Eibach springs on my M6.

On my 2002 I run KYB's. Some people REALLY don't like the KYB's (usual complaint is harshness), but I really like them with stock springs. My upgrade waiting to go into the 02 is Bilstein HD's with H&R's.

Not trying to steal this thread but just wondering DaHose how hard is it to convert from the self leveling suspension to the eibach's. My SLS is on its last legs and im trying to decide whether to spend the money and repair the SLS or get some eibachs. The only reason im considering keeping the SLS is because im anal about originality.

get rid of it.
almost everyone gets rid of it.
most people wont care.
but if your that anal then buy the replacement parts for the SLS but install the eibachs. that way you can always make ir orig if you want

You asked how hard is it to change it. Well you first must disengage the SLS. remove the accuators or seal them so they don't leak fluid. Them replace both the shock and spring setup as niether are reusable without the SLS system. I bought bilsteins and stock shocks together off EBAY then went about doing it and the job took less than 2 hours. Note My springs and shocks were already a set off ebay. Also VMATT I bought a set of bilsteins and vogtland springs for my e34 that I am happy with and you can buy the same setup for the e24 for 448.00 including shipping from Techdeals on ebay. They are listed for e28 cars but are the same for e24s. Hope this helps.

My M was converted when I bought it. Bluesman is right on the money with the description. Keep in mind that with some cars, the power steering pump provides the hydraulic power and you will need to seal the hoses off. In mine, it looks like the owner just pulled all the old bits and slapped in the new pieces. Works awesome.
