Is it just me or is it totally bloated, inflated or inconsistant? Eta's go for $3000 (and sit on CL...FOREVER), but then a month later, a 1989 325is will go for $2700 (it was in awesome condition) and then people will want $7,000 for their 318is. It gets to the point where if you're gonna buy a e30 vert, you might as well look at a e36 and pay $500 bucks more. I'm currently in the market for an 89-91 325is (even '88 maybe) and having the toughest time locating one. Spring is the worst time to buy but other board members talk about getting their iS' in decent shape for ~$1000. Has anyone else noticed this, or better, can anyone else stop my whining and sell me their's for a good price?:)

I paid $15k for my E36? $3g's for a mint E30 is nothing.

Yes I agree it is terribly inconsistent. Ive been keeping my eye on the market of a while now and there seems to be a lack of stability in prices. However that being said what is important is what the cars are selling for. Anyone can ask for any kind of money for there car but what they actually get for it is the key.

for an e30 since it doesnt need to pass RIV inspection, I would check Seattle classifieds also.

Dammit Vancouver... one of the most expensive places to live in, highest gas prices in the country, and a complicated BMW market. I guess we gotta pay for our mountains and stunning scenery. Wouldn't want to live anywhere else!

I searched for a car in Vancouver forever with crappy results. The E30s sellers range from people seeing a late 80s car and pricing low to others saying "OMG it's teh bimmzors, must charge maximum!". The E36 market is no different, 318 owners think their cars are hot shit and want 7-8K for it, while 328s go for 12-15. It's ridiculous. My advice is to get a car in the states, or just cruise CL and the classifieds forever. Vancouver Sun and Province have pretty decent listings of BMWs, try there too.

Hecuter, how did your e36 end up working out (pricewise)? And have any of you seen the e30 propaganda ads?

Whelp, that's kinda a double-edged sword. I bought it for $6500, came to about $9000 with import duties and everything, but some things have recently gone wrong with it (head etc) so I've probably paid around $12,000 for it. If you do get something down there, PPI is a must. Paypal a local member some beer money to have them do it if you're too far away. You can read my thread on it at the top of this forum. :)

I am getting to try Norway for a year thanks to my company re-locating me.

Cant wait to get home to Vancouver after only a month! :redspot

Having said that, I bought a e30 back in 2001 and even then the prices were all over. I could have paid anywhere from 2k to 9k for a 1989 e30.

hahaha yah I dont ever seeing him sell that car for that price. Like one of the above posters said. There is a difference between what people ask to get, and what they actually sell it for in the end. none the less, used bmw prices are all over the place, its annoying.

man, the canadian bmw market is screwed.. i got my 87 325e for $300. runs great, and i been tough on it, to see if it's gonna give up.
i paid $7000 for my 1995 318ti 2 years ago, and a buddy paid $12500 for his 1996 ti at around the same time. his was in better paint condition, sure, but still... the prices are insane all round.

Well the next step is to rant and blame it on something. My scapegoat is ICBC- when the real issue is probably people "scalping" their cars in order to compensate for Vancouver's high cost of living. I hate ICBC.

icbc is bad... but private auto insurance is worse. i lived in utah for a bit and although basic insurance is generally cheaper, optional insurance is not and if you think trying to do claims with icbc is a bitch... those geico, progressive, all-state guys are worse!

the e30 market in vcr is messed! i agree. im one of those idiots who paid way too much for my 86 325e: $2700 two years ago.... or was it $3200?! i dont wanna remember.
