Rob Levinson 04-23-2008, 11:06 PM We offer part number USSE5 (order for pre-1986 models) specifically to fit your car: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_product/bmw_shifters/shifter_nav.htm CW6er 04-23-2008, 11:11 PM The second post lists many of the choices: http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6447&highlight=short+shift detroit635csi 04-23-2008, 11:46 PM your going to want the uuc, it is amazing in defiantly worth the cash. it is a superior product and the guys at uuc are great to work with! Bert Poliakoff 04-23-2008, 11:52 PM Early Z3 from dealer about $55 or you can do what I did. Cut the eye for the shift linkage from the bottom of the gear shift lever and put in a 5/8 spacer of steel and weld. This was the measurement I took off a Z3 lever. Lengthen it too much and you will have clearance issues. I did this for my 81 euro spec DaHose 04-24-2008, 01:03 AM I have a UUC, but it wouldn't fit correctly in the shifter socket. The new delrin puck doesn't sit low enough so I can't get the clip ring back in. I had to make an external clamp to hold things together. Now that I know what I want, I will machine something out of delrin and aluminum. However, now that it is holding fast the car shifts great. I like the precise, notching in feel. Fantastic system, before it was like stirring stew, now it's snik, snik, snik Rob Levinson 04-28-2008, 09:06 AM I have a UUC, but it wouldn't fit correctly in the shifter socket. Jose You either have the wrong part, or the lower bushing is upside-down. Please call ASAP so we can figure that out for you! m6affliction 04-28-2008, 06:48 PM Ditto on the UUC shortshifter and DSSR (selector rod). Fantastic system, before it was like stirring stew, now it's snik, snik, snik Does UUC have a DSSR fitment for the E24? Their site doesn't show it. I'll eventually get an SSK from them too--I had one for my E46 and loved it! 87M6 Chris 04-28-2008, 07:08 PM Yes they do but I (think) it is labled for the M5, I called Rob and he sent me the right one. Rob, time to update the web site. Both pieces were so beautifully machined I didn't want to mount them down where it's greasy and gritty. Transformed the shifting feel. DaHose 04-28-2008, 07:36 PM Thanks for the reply, Rob. I will certainly contact you for replacement parts. I took a look at your site and it looked to me like bits are indeed missing. Based on what I see, it looks like a PO might have just slapped in the shifter with otherwise stock components. But I don't see how that could be done without interference problems. Jose |
