i bought this car in SoCal and had it shipped here to indiana, where it has lived a comfy life in a heated garage with very few crappy nights outside. that being said, the paint is nasty. so after throwing a new alternator on today (which i found just laying around the parts heap FTW)....here is the result of my bordem.

Cool! That's an excellent outcome. Keep up the good work with the elbow grease and make sure you show us what it's like when its finished.

Could you describe what you did? I have similar issues with my cars paint as it was left outside with no wax for a good bit by the previous owner. I have rubbing compound and polishing compound which I have tried using with fairly good results, but not nearly as good as that. I will try to get some pictures up...where do you store your photos online so they can be linked here?

i did about 30 coats of 3m swirl remover, starting with a course rag for about 2/3s, then switched up to a buffer, and finally finishing up with a fine rag.

three coats of a good wax to help seal that paint in.

very time consuming but the results are was worth it.

tonights update:

about 1 hour and 45 minutes on the cowl, and 20 minutes on the area above the door handle:

i suspect about 6-10 hours on this area alone. it is very nasty.
