I'm just learning how to use the DSLR that I bought (Digital Rebel XSI) Took a couple of pictures with my brother in law (dm0ney from vortex) I'm a complete amateur at this stuff, but thats why I got this camera so that I could learn.

Did you remember the settings utilized for the better shots? You need a notebook for the first few weeks to write down what you did when. Then read the manual. then it will be easy.

ya, i knew some really basic things, but not enough to make smart decisions.

Yes I did, and thats why I took shots right before dusk, and then as it started to get darker. Sortof like playing with contrast and brightness on a picture. You really have to have the right combination to get it right
One thing for sure though is that I will be getting a remote. I'm trying learn HDR, but everytime i change the iso it moves the camera slightly, which is just enough to get screwed.

A remote is a cheap investment and so is a good tripod you can weight down, that will help you exponentially. nice pics and good luck.

Pretty sick cars, I'm digging the R - as much as I hate VW, the MK4 is still one of my favorites.

Actually most cameras (all dSLRs) now capture aperture, shutter speed, EV+-, focal distance, ect so it's actually very easy to have tons of information at your hands once you're ready to process your work.
I'd recommend using RAW mode to shoot (its easily worth the increase in file size) and Lightroom is an amazing program for processing and organizing your work.
