failed smog as expected. just want to find out where to begin. going back to the repair order of the previous owner, here's what's been done:

air flow meter replaced 5/06
cat converter replaced 7/06 (failed smog)

i checked all over and found no vacuum leaks although the idle is erratic. i'm guessing the idle control valve.

here are the numbers:

idle HC max= 120 meas= 760
2500 rpm max= 150 meas= 231

CO max= 1.00 meas= 9.88
max= 1.20 meas= 5.73

these reading are really high, running very lean not getting enough air flow. you guys think a bad O2 sensor?

any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks

i wouldve hoped the o2 sensor was replaced when the cat was done, but for $30 a new one isnt too bad, and is usually the culprit. You could also have a bad/incorrect AFM as well.

Running lean would mean that fuel is an issue i would think, perhaps the fuel pressure isnt high enough?

But, the quick and cheaper thing to try is the o2 sensor.
