View Full Version : Need Super Nintendo
E34Mekanik 04-22-2008, 02:04 AM I know this is stupid, but I'm not sure where else to post this to get traffick. If there are any on Atlanta's Craigslist, it means I've already called them all and they are sold (but ads are still up:mad). I'm in Midtown and will drive (relatively far) to give you cash! I'm a great buyer/seller as many ATL people here can vouch for who I've 'transacted' with. If you have any/all of the following, please let me know.
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
One controller
Cables (power, R/F, etc.)
Super Mario World Game
Kirby Super Star (8 in 1) Game
FAST5 04-22-2008, 08:39 AM Pawn shops have a slew of them.
Analog 04-22-2008, 09:46 AM ^Crackheads don't play nintendo IIRC.

But they'd be awesome at the twitch games!
As for finding a SNES, you may have to try garage sales. As the kids that played them got older, now the remaining functioning ones are fairly valuable. Alternatively, you could emulate it or play the games on a Wii.
Kyle K. 04-22-2008, 11:00 AM Call around to a couple Gamestops, I know I've seen some old school stuff in there from time to time. But yeah, it's not cheap. If the games are available for Wii download you'd probably be best off just going that route.
tpattison 04-22-2008, 11:35 AM Isn't this more of a want than a need? You need air, water, food, etc. But a SNES? Nah, that definitely doesn't fall under the "need" category.
Yellow2 04-22-2008, 11:50 AM Ok, ill let you in on my secret hideout of games/systems. 'Console Concepts' on Barrett Parkway right in front of the mall behind that AppleB's.
You happen to have any old regular NES games you are looking to get rid of, I collect them.I have a few SNES games/console I would trade for the right games.
I'm actually really glad I saw a post like this. I never hear ppl talking about playing video games on car forums.
edit: tpat lol
Jean-Claude 04-22-2008, 12:09 PM I have my old SNES upstairs on my 19" tv. I play some of the games every so often. Mainly when my younger brother comes over....memories, ya know?
xatlas0 04-22-2008, 12:26 PM Ah, yes. Many memories of FF6 and Chronotrigger.
Yellow2 04-22-2008, 12:28 PM i was just playing chrono trigger the other month that is one of my favorites also.

A sega genesis on the other hand is a need. I still play mine quite frequently as it is very entertaining. Too bad they try selling used games for $10-$20 or I would have a ton.

BAH, go old school Joey. Get an old Atari 2600 or even better yet an old ColecoVision. If you were really baller back then you'd have the Adam computer add-on to the ColecoVision too. :buttrock

Donkey Kong, Zaxxon and centipede rocked back then. Also the ColecoVision back then had the far superior graphics. We had the RadioShack port of the Intellivision called Tandyvision before we got the ColecoVision.

One of the cool things about the ColecoVision was that it could play all of the Atari games if you have the Expansion Pack #1. :buttrock

Well hell I need to get one then. The price of old stuff now is outrageously high. I am taking something off your hands that hasn't seen daylight in centuries and they want to charge outrageous amounts of money.
Cwaters 04-22-2008, 01:57 PM One saturday I was flipping channels and found this series of shows about the early days of old computers and game systems. It was like "Behind the Music" for computer nerds. They did Atari, Sega, Nintendo, Apple etc. each in their own show. It's about the only thing I've watched on G4TV since back in the old TechTV days. It was very cool to hear the "inside" scoop of what was going on back in the day from some of the people involved.

Good luck finding a working ColecoVision, much less any of their games. My parents sold off all that back in the late 80s at a yard sale. If you do find one it will be a rare thing and worth a lot of $$$ to the right collector.

I never even think of watching G4TV, but that series would be pretty cool to watch. I'll have to check Comcast OnDemand to see if it's on there.

Well, Coleco came along a year & change after Intellivision, so it's was sort of a "next step" in graphics, rather than a true contemporary. Intellivision pulled the same trick on the original Atari, really. Atari eventually got the point, and started allowing licensed versions of their games for Intellivision. Even so, Intellivision's baseball and football games were the best of the era for quite a while.
I wonder if I still have my old Intellivision cartridges sitting in a box somewhere? :ponder

The demand is very low and so is the supply so in theory it should cost next to nothing (I got an A in 101 and never opened the book;)).

Ebay can support all of your needs. I actually watched a long show on tv about how ebay was such a crazy operation and how they were taking over a lot of markets.

Hm. I'm not much into the ebay thing. I have a colleague who lives and dies by his auctions, and when he gets onto the subject, he's half-crazy with fanaticism. Doesn't seem like my cup of tea. :rofl

Yeah I know, that's why we upgraded to the ColecoVision. I agree though the sports games were fu*king awesome on the Intellivision. Definitely the best of the best back in the day.

How do you know the demand is low? Just because it's not splattered all over the front pages of newspapers and magazines doesn't mean it's non-existent or low. I know people who have paid $$$ for TRS-80's, Tandy CoCo's, and Apple IIC's. It's all in the collector.

You sure about that? Just in our tiny little slice of the metro here we've apparently got four or five guys who yearn for the fidigity, silly graphic, stupid storyline games of the late 70's & early 80's. Never underestimate nostalgia as a motivating force.

I used the demand as being low because it is not something that people readily want. But yes I did underestimate the nostalgia factor of the first few gaming platforms to the older crowd. I can guarantee you if I told anyone about a colecovision most people would think I am crazy. They seem to believe that the first system was nintendo.

Actually the first gaming systems were the Magnavox Odyssey, Pong and the Coleco Telstar. Those are what's considered 1st Gen systems. The NES is 3rd Gen and the SNES is 4th Gen.
See that's part of the problem with you kids today. Y'all have no sense of history.

That game does have some interesting stories behind their making, as do many of the original Atari stand-up arcade games. I've got a file around here with 4 or 5 games that used to take up huge boards to play, that now - whole and complete, all features intact - taken together, comprise no more than 1.2 MB of disk space. :eyecrazy

It is unbelievable how far technology has come just in the last 25 to 30 years. Most of the stuff we are talking about was around before most of these kids were thought of, much less before they were born.
I remember Saturday mornings getting dropped off at the local arcade and playing all the video games I could for $10. This of course was back in '80 - '82 time frame. Qix, Joust, Zaxxon, Galaga, Donkey Kong, etc.
A computer back then was an 8088 processor with 16K to 32K of RAM, no hard drive, dual 5 1/4" floppies and a tape drive. If you were lucky you had access to a 100 baud cradle modem. Now there is more processor power and memory in a cell phone.

Qix was one of my all time favorite games. Did you ever own a Coleco Electronic Quarterback? I used mine so much the screen became one large pixel. Damn that was a fun game to have as a kid.
It really is amazing at how far technology has come. It's also good to grow up during that time too. Before cell phones and call waiting, before microwaves and ice makers in refrigerators, before fuel injection and other advances. We got to see them happen. We knew how to have fun without relying on technology too.

Those were fun too bad they are starting to get rid of a ton of cool toys because "kids can hurt themselves". Prime example is the all metal Tonka truck, kids get pinched and hurt by them so they don't sell them near as much. Oh well tons of kids now play more video games then you can imagine. This is why I don't play Halo any more. I just got sick of being killed by little kids frequently no matter how hard I tried.

Galaga was "my game". Not too long ago, I walked into a pizza place with my family and my sisters kids. We ordered our pies and I noticed the place had a traditional stand-up Galaga. I was all "Hell yeah!" and broke out the quarters. The kids all played on like $5 but I played one game and finally died when everyone else was already eating. My kids hadn't ever seen "that" dad... But the controls all worked well and I was in the zone... God that felt good. Just like old times...

And they wonder why kids are obese. I used to play video games when it was either raining or dark outside. Hell I used to play roller hockey for hours everyday and never once would I have rather been playing video games inside.
I used to play video games all day when I was a kid :shifty
Then I went to Tech and all I did was study all day :shifty
