Hey guys,
I have a black 635CSi. It was a northern car so they
never tinted the windows. I plan on doing that soon.
One of my friends suggested this: He said to tint
the FRONT WINDSHIELD! I need to to a front windshield
gasket-ectomy anyway. He said have the tint guys put
some tint while it is out and on the bench.
Just a real light shade on the inside, like all the other windows.
Sounds like a great idea anyone ever heard of this?

Dont know about Texas, but tinting the front with anything other than a very light shade is illegal here.
Whadda mean we dont tint cars up here?? ;)
I have some tint on my six, the rear two windows. I will be tinting the back soon, but, to be honest, I dont want as much as I have on my TT. I dont want to detract from the six's natural good looks by putting heavy shade on it. My TT has 20% and it looks killer. The windows actually blend with the black paint. I'll have to post some good daylight pics of the car once it has a bath and then you can see the tints.

Ditto on the illegal, that's why windshields have their tinting at the top, nothing is allowed within the wiping area.

Yup, definitely illegal in Texas, except the top 6" or so, you can black that out completely if you wanted to. That's not to say that people don't do it, but I can live without the extra tickets myself.

Even if not illegal, I think it's a really bad idea to tint the windshield simply because you'd be lowering forward visibility!

Few auto tint shops carry it, but independent of looks, there is a clear tint that llumen and one or two others, (not johnson) that blocks 99 percent of UV. I have strongly considered it for obvious reasons. Independents who are not part of a shop (check craigslist auto services) will be more likely to do a windshield of whatever you want on it as I found several, but none of them had the clear stuff.
