Was it because there is no economy in the Big Six?

economy and m-power don't really go together.

It would be kind of like having an M325e (I had a neighbor with one of these, he ordered it special from the factory and did european delivery, at least that is what he always told me)

:confused

sounds like an addition of an m to the 325e to me. did they really make one?

Did any M-car have it? I don't recall having it on my E36 M3...

Indeed, the economy gauge is replaced with an oil temp gauge on M cars. This is important for the M cars because of their higher-revving nature. You don't want to rev an engine with low oil temp, after all.

The same neighbor bought one of those electric superchargers off ebay that consisted of a marine bilge blower and hose and swore that was good for an additional 15% boost in power. When I told him it was a bilge blower he told me about the research and development that the company did and that the test sheets were there to show the improvment. His hose and blower were developed specifically for his car and then it was dyno tuned. :rolleyes

Time to take him to a beach during the spring at low tide and sell him beach front property.

No oil temp on the M6. This was corrected on later M cars.

The e36 M had no oil temp

That would be like having a horsepower gauge in a 318i, you aren't going to like what you're seeing, so its better to ignore it.

the e36 m3 is the only m car that does have the mpg below the revs

That figures.

In the older cars (E28, E24) no gauge, just an ///M.

Was it because there is no economy in the Big Six?Marketing strategy. Not wise to include "economy" in the description of $uch a finely tuned automobile.

I had one of those, the new dealer took a 325e and installed an Mtech wheel and spoiler, added M badges front and rear, the car still red lined @ 5500 but the badges sure were cool and it did get good mileage :lol
