The heat and A/C work just fine, but I can't see what I have them set on. Is there a fuse that might have blown or will I have to replace it?

There is a capacitor that is a common problem with the e36 ACC. The fix involves replacing or re-soldering a capacitor. I'm not sure the problem just manifests as a bad display. IIRC, it also makes the system fail. It would be worth checking out the web pages devoted to that problem.

Where might these pages be found? Here on the forum or on a different DIY site?
