Ok, I'm gonna rant here for a minute.....I AM READY TO CHANGE THIS FU----G GOVERNMENTS way of doing business. IAM READY for THE 2ND AMERICAN REVOLUTION!!! I just paid $3.89 for 93 Super and I'm not happy. I feel like I'm getting squeezed from every angle and I'm in the mood to squeeze back.! It's about time we as citizens start telling the government how it's gonna be and not the other way around. And I'll tell those Saudi Bastards too!!
Some of my suggestions:
-Tell the Saudis to f--k off and start producing our own oil again
-Tell the Chinese to f--k off and put a total ban on all imports and exports
-Tell the American big money profiteers to f--k off, you don't like a smaller profit? too bad.
-Tell the Senate and House of representatives they're all fired. Only working people can now hold office.

That's just for starters...

I couldn't agree more, especially about China. But that would be a big adjustment, like 10 years of famine in the US or some such. We've moved so much manufacturing, we don't even have the tools to make anything anymore. You don't realize how big a problem is becoming when it happens slow, until you try to reverse it.
Oh, and we should save all the gas for sexy collectible cars, and let the commuters ride a bicycle! :D

i feel you

but you might want to edit the language on here... its not in the OT section so if a mod sees this they may put you on time out... so id would "censor" the f bombs and whatnot...

but yeah, i couldnt agree with you more.... stupid effing american govt... hopefully when obama wins the election he will change some things... or make an effort to fix what bush has effed up..

Look at what happened in the 80s when Japan was producing everything. Now that was a small Island compared to China. Our Government is selling the future of America we will soon be a consumer only nation and then what. We arn't building new prisons everyday for nothing. Economists predict that China will be the biggest and baddest world power in twenty years. BTW I paid $4.37 for 91 octane in SF. even our 87 grade is over $4.00. Every American has their head in the sand and hearing Joecautela did my heart good. lobbyists and special interest groups spend $180,000.00 everyday that Congress is in session buying what they want from our "leaders" it is a crime and nothing is doneto address it. Who is going to change it? certainly not Mccain and forget about Obama whose wife makes 300 grand a year and she refers to her household as average America. Sorry about the rant but with 6 grandkids I worry about what they will face.

I hope I have not offended anybody by my choice of language and am going to attempt to edit it. I'd hate for "Big Brother" to have to censor me but at the same time I understand other peoples feelings and the wishes of the forum %$#@@####!!!??? there, now I feel better..

Lets face it, what president or canidate or politician whatsoever has a freaking clue what average america is? Or even cares?

We've become to accustomed to leaving our responsibilities to "others".
-Big Insurance
-Big Medicine
-Big Pharmaceuticals
-Big Brother

Now granted many of our advancements in health and welfare were/are necessary for the general good of everyone. But do they have to make a killer profit doing it? Mobil,Exxon,Lily,Merck and others have posted record profits off our backs. Perhaps it's time for a bit of "give back". It's a complex and difficult situation, one that may take generations to reverse and overcome. But I'm so tired of hearing people say they want Top pay and Top prices for goods/services and I'm getting crap in return. Is this the price of democracy? Perhaps as some say we're headed for a one world economy and in 50yrs everyone will be brown.....now where did I leave that box of shells anyway?....

Right here it's in the $3.40's. Went into Louisville yesterday and found a couple places around $3.29. It's sad when that starts looking good.
Talked to family in Houston and their prices are right up there with ours. Used to always be cheaper than the rest of the country since there's quite a few refinery's right there.

What's even sadder is that we're shedding blood over in oil country with no end in sight.

In Toronto it's $1.22 per liter or $4.50 per gallon

Want to see some messed up stuff?

http://zeitgeistmovie.com/

Skip to the third part of the movie. The first part is about parallels in religion, and the second is about US Gov't Conspiracies...

EDIT- Let me just note, like all videos/books of this sort they do tend to take it to a huge extreme.

Lets face it, what president or canidate or politician (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?p=12808953&posted=1#) whatsoever has a freaking clue what average america is? Or even cares?

It's really just all about the Benjamins....

I have seen Zeitgeist, and I would suggest watching the beginning about religion...my 2 cents. Also, the things that everyone has been ranting about is old news; Greeks, Romans, Aztecs, whatever...it's all been done before. Ron Paul has addressed many of the issues ya'll have been ranting about. He, however, was effectively blackballed by the media, so one of the most level-headed assessments of the state of things and how to fix them has been silenced. Now I do not agree with many of what Paul says - his stance on abortion for example - but his view on foreign policy and the state of the union is spot on.

I normally just avoid threads like this, but what the hell (warning: some melodrama follows):

The US has the cheapest gas in the world (except for a few petro states) and it's been that way for a long time. Double what you're paying, and that's what it costs for gas in the UK. Similar in Europe. The price Chevale quoted above is for REGULAR (87 AKI) in Canada.

Speaking of Canada, we are the single largest source of oil to the US. Yes, more than the Saudis. Check it out: http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/data_publications/company_level_imports/current/import.html

Are we screwing you? Much as many of my compatriots may like to, no, we aren't. What's the problem? The price of oil is tied to the US dollar, so your dollar's dive resulted in an increased cost per barrel. Add to that the shortsighted moratorium on constructing refining capacity, and "event shock" on gasoline prices (more so than on other commodities) and you get higher prices at the pump. And that really doesn't fully explain it. It's way more complicated than that.

In any case, you, Americans, are still paying way below the norm for gas at the pump. You're in for more shock as your government proves less able to shield you from it. Do you think the biofuel push is actually a green initiative? Hardly. It's to keep the price at the pump low. The unforseen cost of that is going to bite soon.

So, Joe, while I feel your pain (I pay about $5/gallon for 93), I think your targets are off the mark. China is going to continue to raise the stakes when it comes to oil prices, as their demand will only increase. India is similar, though less reliant on oil-hungry heavy industry. They have billions of people. The US faces a choice in confronting this: champion the free markets or fight for the oil. Free markets mean you, Joe, will pay more at the pump. Fighting for it means your children will pay for it with blood.

+ 1 on Jay M's analysis...by enlarge oil refineries only make about 25 cents per gallon...granted big oil has been enjoying record profits as of late. Biofuel is an absolute disaster and is and will continue to be the source of the brewing "food riots" across the globe...Haitians for example are literally eating mud pies and charcoal. Corn for biofuel is nothing more than the new black gold but instead of drillers, the profits go to big factory farms...this corn is not suitable for consumption and does nothing to eliminate the amount of energy we use as the PROCESS of making biofuel is totally inefficient.

I say this with an ironic grin on my face seeing as I drive an M6 with the "dirty engine":rolleyes

joe, i like all your ideas but 1,2 and 3. profit is the drive for American innovation. China is why your not paying so much for that computer of yours. Open markets is the only way to go. congress sucks. my .02 cents worth

calm down guys.
We pay up to Euro 1,50 per litre (98 octane) which is $9,40 per Gallon (3.8l = 1 gal, 1 Euro = US$1,65).
I agree though on what has been said about politicians. Not any different in Germany.

Around $1.55 per litre here in Oz, which would equate to about $5.90 per gallon.

We've recently had a long overdue change of government here, I think our new Prime Minister is a good man. Remains to be seen if he's a good leader, but he seems a good man.

I agree, what has been on the news recently sounds very positive. Let's hope he gets all the support he needs.
