who would win? Stock 01 Honda Prelude Auto or 97 328I auto w/intake? My friend thinks his prelude is the shit but I think it's slow. I work at a Honda dealership and have drive those many times, I think the auto's blow. I only have an intake on my car and his car is stock I believe.

i raced modded 5 speed prelude in my stock 328i. It didn't stand a chance. Preludes are too have and don't have enough torque. Best way is to race and find out tho:D

But it depends on many factors, driver, weater conditions. Your best bet is to go down the block and find out.

I have good friend with a 5th gen Prelude.. 5 speed. They are peppy, but need revs to run hard. With the V-tec lobes on, the car will surprise you. 0-60 is around 6.8ish. Its a mid 15 second car. I know nothing about the autos, though.

I suspect it will be very, very close against a 328iA. The power/weight and gearing is near identical.

I have a 328iA as well but, I think it well be a close race. I think the Prelude MIGHT have a advantage though ;)

A friend of mine, 328 is man, just raced my friend in his '00 Prelude. Justin's 328is does have a CE light that reads a bad Camshaft Position Sensor. Both car are 5-speed.

1st run: From a 30mph roll = dead even up to 100 mph

2nd run: From a 20 mph roll = barely ahead by 100mph

3rd run: From a standstill :evil2 = 328is is ahead by 5 cars at 110mph

I just sold my 98 Lude last week. You definitely have to get the rpms up for the car to exhibit any sort of power, thus it is a dog off the line (massive wheelhop as well). Of course I never upgraded from the stock bridgestones which may be a big factor in the wheelhop.

The auto tranny's in the Lude's are complete crap. They are defective by design and you'd be hard pressed to find a Lude owner with 50k+ miles that hasn't had problems with it. I think Honda finally admitted to the problem and began warrantying the units.

I remember going to a prelude gathering at a local track (Milan) and it was embarassing to see those cars running the 1/4 mile. I know the car wasn't designed to be a drag car or anything....But to watch those cars in the mid 14's to 15's was painful. It looked like they were in slow motion. Kinda like watching an eastern conference basketball game after the Mavs/Kings matchup.

maybe you should watch more civics run then :(

coincedence or what? i just raced another prelude with intake and exhaust i know of maybe other stuff. we went from a 10 mph roll from one light to another and i took her by about 3 cars midway through third when she let up. the lude was a 5 speed as well as my car.

fun cars to race, its really cool to hear they're v tec kick in. when i raced the my friends prelude, (the which M3love spoke of) my car was running like shit and still is cause of that damn camsharft sensor screwing my cam timing:mad: . but anyway race him and let us know.

ps. dont forget to lighten your car up before you race to try and even up the weight disadvantage you have...
