the first big six I ever got, had blown a head gasket many years back. the thing needed every suspension component on it at the time, and was pushed in a corner of the driveway and used as a parts car. when my oldes son turned eleven, he got the chassis, and it still was a driveway ornament / parts car. early this year we finally got around to doing something with it. Autobahnsport in Portland had a m30B35 from a 6er that was in their way and with his 16th birthday coming up, we stuffed it in. the passenger side needed a modified motor mount, as the casting lugs on a B34 were sometimes ground off on the B35 and it only has the three further forward. the shift linkage had been used many years before on the 528e/533i conversion and we had to start from scratch on building an old style one. We scoured the ETK manual and wrung out all the wires between the chassis and motor and came up with a pigtail adaptor. instead of messing with the single wire vs. double wire temp guage, the thermostat housing was tapped to the appropriate size and a probe and guage were installed. Standard bilstein tourings on stock springs were installed along with the FPC bulk suspension kit. Remember this is a kids car. if he wants to lower it he can pay for it. Lemforder is spendy and I can't see putting every conceivable longevity item on a car with a first time driver.
The door panel cards were used on another car, so new ones were made up from extra aluminum sheeting laying around. Just finished making the strut tower support for the wagon so I figured I'd make a couple more. I figured I would have him stick with the 2.93 rear end but after driving it a little, it was disgusting. a 3.46 was installed. we had an e36 driver's seat and since the original was trashed, a couple of adaptor plates and in it went. it sits a little closer to the center of the car but I found that it positions the knee out of the way of the wheel when heel/toeing. I don't think my son will figure this out for a while.

Neat car! The b35 swap is a nice addition to the e28. I know I love mine. The aluminum door cards are pretty cool. I haven't seen that done on an e28 yet.
