Hello all
My parking break release cable seems to have broken on my 740.
Are these easy to replace? Does the cable just route from the release lever down to the parking brake pedal?

Also is there a way to release the brake so that I could drive it to a garage, at the moment the parking brake pedal is fully down so my car is stuck.

Cheers for any help

Regards
Terry

A broken cable won't cause the parking brakes to lock up. But a stuck caliper(s) or failures in the parking brake mechanism (inside the rear rotors) can cause the wheels to be locked.

It's the release cable (dash to foot operated pedal) that has broken - so you are unable to release the park brake once it's been engaged. Time to get under the dash - I think you should be able to release the pawl manually at the pedal end, if you remove the under-dash trim (4 phillips head screws and two 1/4 turn lugs at the firewall) you should be able to access where the hand release cable meets the pedal, and pop it off to release the brake. Good luck.
