Hey everyone,
This is my first post and I thank everyone in advance for any advice. I have my beloved 2000 528i it has 93,000 miles and it still looks brand new. I love my car I have no plans on getting a new one anytime soon. Tis brings me to my current problem. For the past 5 months I have been experiencing symptoms such as described for the double vanos problem.. In the winter When I start the car it starts then the idle will drop and the engine will shake. I have not experienced that in quite a while ... what I am experiencing at this time is the following:
The car starts fine generally sometimes it will stall when in gear then I will hit the accelerator and bam it stalls.
So after this will happen I will accelerate very gently and the car moves but the acceleration is painfully slow but once it gets up to lets say 20-30 mph there is not a clue of a problem and she drives smoothly. Then I will get off the parkway get to a redlight and when it hits green I hit the petal and stall. Or if I turn a corner and then hit the petal stall. So Damn Frustrating.

A short time ago I checked out the obd codes that were coming up and I got cam shaft position sensor error code and cyl 1 misfire .. I have replaced both cam shaft position sensors and the coil for cyl 1.
Please someone shine some light on what needs to be looked at Im frustrated.

Thanks so much
David

The Vanos seals should be replaced--the camshaft sensor code is one of the codes that comes up when you seals are going bad--take 30 min and read the write up in the site below---many here have made the jump and all that have are singing the praises of this seal change--including myself.

Do not have this work performed by the BMW dealership(not a hard diy-if I can do it anyone can) The dealer will only put a new Vanos in--the problem is that the seals in the BMW Vanos are whats going bad--buy the seals from Besian and do the job--you'll be gald you did.
