Hey i was wondering something about my vanos. i have a 1993 325i.

I replaced the spark plugs about a week a go and behold the typical curse... oil in the spark plug holes. obviously a leaky vale cover gasket.

Anyways, since vanos runs off of oil pressure, does that mean that having a leaky valve cover gasket hurts the vanos performance? If the valve cover gasket is leaking that would mean no pressure could be built up in the top of the motor where the vanos unit is.

The valve cover gaskets don't see oil pressure. The Vanos is a separate system from the valve covers.
