I'm ashamed to say this, but I have read all about the infamous shimmy and I still am unclear.

My mechanic said that I need new right side sway bar links, okay not too bad pricewise, but will that fix my shimmy?

It shimmys only when braking and is *most noticable* from and speed above 50 mph, but it can be felt all the way to a complete stop. Will sway bar links resolve this problem, or do I really need some other suspension parts, like thrust arms perhaps?

The sway bar link (one per side) is not going to solve your problem. Thrust arms and front rotors are the reasonably likely causes.

Thrust arms is the most likely source for the trouble you describe.

+1 thrust arm bushings are shot. buy new arms or install powerflex bushings.
