So I figured Id snap a few pics of the head and ask you guys what kind of condition it appears to be in. So what do you think? The pics suck but hopefully you guys can make out what they look like.

BTW, changing the gasket was cake for those of you unsure of its difficulty. I wish I would've done it sooner. The rings that go around the plugs were so hard that they broke when I took them off of the valve cover.

Where is the valve cover, underneath the car? Are there also gaskets around the spark plugs to replace?

Thanks for the DIY report. I'll be doing this in a couple of weeks.

I can't believe you have that much miles.....cool!

Er uh...yep...that looks pretty good...

this is what you DON'T want to see...sludge  (the engine below is a BMW m62 engine heavily sludged and needed to be replaced because it conked out on the owner)

You can easily find this info using any of the 3 major online part databases...just pull up the diagram and you can see what all you need...and the other things that is in the vacinity. :)

Once you remove the cylinder head (#1 in diagram)...you can see the valve cover gasket set (or profile gaskets) which are #3 in the diagram below:
