am getting that little battery light to pop on. The car drives fine and after a couple miles it goes off but I wonder what it is? I just bought my alternator on the 1st and my battery yesterday! Im gonna be pissed to find i spent $400xx and those weren't the problems. What could it be? Something draining my batt after ignition is off??

It may not be either. I had animals chew through the + cable sheath in a very hidden area under my engine on my old Grand Cherokee and then the wire eventually corroded. I had a brand new battery and replaced my alternator too and it still kept dying. Eventually, I had to pay a mechanic to fix it and he spent a long time tracing wires to find the problem.

If the light is on, the alternator isn't charging the battery. A quick test is to fully charge the battery and them measure the system voltage with the car running. You should see at least 13.6v at idle, rising to 14v at 2500rpm. If the system voltage is low, the alternator is the prime suspect.

Well i just got my alternator and batt tested at two diff locations. Each say my batt is good but one says my alternator is at 11.4 volts and the other says its at 13.4. This makes me think there is a short somewhere. On the way to Advanced Auto, the battery light was on and off constantly with 30-60 sec. intervals between flashes. On the way to AutoZone, the battery light disappeared all together. Not one flash. They are about 10 miles between locations. Weird.
The thing is, I installed the alternator myself. Could the positive cable the is screwed into the back of the alternator be loose? On one minute off the next maybe? As the day continues, I went to my buddies house to chill and since then there has been no light. What gives?

Yeah, maybe you should re-check your install and connections, etc. Hope you track this down soon

That was my problem. I bought a new battery also, didn't solve the problem. Battery light kept flashing so I suspected the alternator was failing. Upon looking in to the engine bay I noticed an orange glow every few seconds. The live feed to the alternator was loose and was shorting. The screw was tightly secured and the problem has gone!
It's a pity though because it makes me think my old battery may have been ok and I wasted €150 on a new one! I hope you get your problem sorted.

Yup. You were right on key there. I looked at the connector and sure enough..I could easily move it. It was just jumping on and off of the positive post on the back of the alternator. No more $$ spent!!! Sweeeetness! :buttrock
