Dark Helmet 04-18-2008, 05:12 PM I don't think I have a spare...
Dark Helmet 04-18-2008, 05:12 PM and I still need a glovebox door!!!
AlarmedBread 04-18-2008, 10:02 PM Sounds like there are lots of people scrambling to get their cars ready for the season. All I have left to do is scrape out all of that silicone that didn't harden, clean it and use some good stuff to fix the ac line water leak. Then mount tires and flog away.
I'll keep an eye out in the yards for those parts, but it's been slim pickin's for the past couple months, only 2 e30s and both had cracked pans.
Dark Helmet 04-19-2008, 10:00 AM chris, did either of those cars have a glove box in tact?
topdown323 04-21-2008, 03:18 PM Found one out east, i think he asked $95 for it, waiting on a reply.
EMS conference Saturday plus a 12 hour shift sunday prevented me from working on the beast, so guess what i do tonight?
turb02 04-21-2008, 03:36 PM search www.car-part.com Its a nation wide junkyard webpage. I have found a lot of good parts on there for my turbo build for my 75 2002.
Dark Helmet 04-21-2008, 03:42 PM I have a pseudo-intact glove-box now.... bloody $13 later.
turb02 04-21-2008, 03:53 PM good deal?
Dark Helmet 04-21-2008, 04:01 PM no... not good deal. I was too busy to haggle... just needed the piece.
AlarmedBread 04-21-2008, 04:42 PM So wait, you spent money to make your car...heavier...?
topdown323 04-21-2008, 04:50 PM :lol
Dark Helmet 04-21-2008, 05:27 PM So wait, you spent money to make your car...heavier...?
its more of a "wiring harness holder/obscurer" in my car.... and dang, that thing IS heavy!
topdown323 04-22-2008, 03:03 PM update...
$80 shipped means i can has oilpan. Chris, what's you schedule like? I'm in town mon-thurs every week.
Might need rest of partski's in the very near future:shifty
AlarmedBread 04-22-2008, 05:11 PM Cool, none of the stuff I have are needed to make the car drivable, they're just on the 'nice to have, but usually broken anyway' list. :)
Lets shoot for sometime next week?
topdown323 04-23-2008, 11:25 AM All right sounds good. expansion tanks are nice to have:D I usually am in town monday tuesday and thursday from about 1030 to about 1700, give or take a few minutes. Maybe meet up for a bite? i'll PM you my temporary phone number.
topdown323 04-28-2008, 03:35 PM Update...
Motor and tranny came out yesterday morning, after a little blood and a few four letter words.
Don't just run in off the street to buy a clutch pack from Napa, either. at $431 a piece, i debated buying two just to have on for a spare. Now i am gonna call my guy and see what he can do, since i figured the clutch doesn't look too good amd i am already there:D
Pics prolly in the next couple of days, as things progress. I doubt i'll do a DIY, since right now i barely even know what i am doing:rofl
So if all goes according to plan, I should be driving a bimmer again in about 2-3 weeks.

AlarmedBread 04-28-2008, 03:48 PM Just so you don't forget, get the throwout bearing, it was pretty noisy although the clutch grabbed fine. :dunno
topdown323 04-29-2008, 11:37 AM yeah i didn't forget the throwout, the clutch isn't too bad, but it is glazed in a couple spots and scored pretty heavily around the outer edges, so i figured while i was there...:D
