View Full Version : Spotted- Black e92 M3
Reuben540i 04-16-2008, 11:08 PM On UNL campus?? College kids can afford these cars? :confused Maybe I need to go back to school....
I only had my phone, so I didn't get any quality pics. But it was super sweet to see in person. Black on black, and it had Markel plates on it still. I had seen the sedan version in person before, but the coupe just looks so much hawter. :buttrock
AlarmedBread 04-16-2008, 11:25 PM coupes are ftw.
black is the best because you can't see any of the ugly body lines that you can in other colors. :rofl
Reuben540i 04-17-2008, 07:06 PM Ugly??...come on now..let's not kid around with such things..
Dark Helmet 04-18-2008, 11:35 AM it is kinda ugly...
Theodore 04-18-2008, 12:00 PM Haven't seen em in person, but from the pics, I like the sedan a LOT more than the coupe.
Coupe is too "cigar" looking.
AlarmedBread 04-18-2008, 01:12 PM it's really one the door area that bothers me, the rest is nice. :)
///M3Vader4dr 04-18-2008, 01:15 PM post the non quality pics please :)
and my buddy here at State just got
a black e92 M3 soo yeah they can afford em
AlarmedBread 04-18-2008, 01:34 PM The lease payment is alot cheaper than hookers :dunno:
A professor's car maybe? Although my across the street neighbor is a UNO professor and he drives a bicycle to work while his stay at home wife shuffles the 3 kids and one dog around in an old Honda Odyssey. But I did have another UNO professor knock on my door last month to ogle my wife's R32 so some of them are into nice cars.
Reuben540i 04-19-2008, 01:19 AM it is kinda ugly...
Is there any BMW that you do like the looks of?? Come on now, let's not be a hater just to be "different"....;)
Haven't seen em in person, but from the pics, I like the sedan a LOT more than the coupe.
Coupe is too "cigar" looking.
I do not understand. The coupe is teh sex. The sedan looks too normal. Carbon Fiber roof FTW.
IMO ALL BMW's look 100x better in person. Especially the current 3 series. Pictures do not do these cars justice. Please check out these cars in person before you make any such rash and or radical decisions.
All BMW haters please leave forum now as your opinions are not appreciated. Thanks.
Reuben540i 04-19-2008, 01:21 AM post the non quality pics please :)
Trust me, they're not worth posting. I do not have an Iphone.
AlarmedBread 04-19-2008, 01:22 AM I don't hate them, it's just that if I was in the market and had the money to blow, I would have a Z06 over anything in bmw's line up. Track ready car, super cheap and reliable? I'll take two over an m3! Then again they aren't interested in selling to track junkies as they're notoriously 'thrifty'. :)
Reuben540i 04-19-2008, 01:29 AM Okay, but GM products are still junk. Yah, out of the box it might do amazing on the track, and put up some good numbers, but I would not want to spend that much money on a car that is ONLY good for the track. I love BMW's for so much more than the numbers they can put up. If I was going to buy a "race car" yes, a Corvette would be the way to go for the money, but to me there is a lot more to a nice (expensive) car than just putting up good numbers at the track. I don't want to spend $60-70k for a car that I can only enjoy at the race track or car show. No thanks.
Reuben540i 04-19-2008, 01:32 AM A professor's car maybe? I'm guessing somebody's daddy bought it for them, or is just letting their son borrow it. The faculty all have private parking spaces, this was in a public space.
All I know is that I want one.
Is anyone willing to pay $70k for a slightly used/mostly taken care of kidney?
AlarmedBread 04-19-2008, 01:34 AM No doubt it's a great machine, but they need to be taking some notes from GM and bring back a REAL Motorsport division. How are GM products junk? Because they aren't overpriced junk like BMW products? Give me a break :rolleyes.
Reuben540i 04-19-2008, 01:42 AM No, they just need to make another M3 CSL LTW.
Problem is, most people wanting AND able to buy a brand new BMW want all of the goodies to go with it. If they wanted a pure race car they would have bought the corvette instead. Hence our problem.
I have no problem with any of the cars BMW puts out nowadays, I love the 7, the 6, the 5, the 3, the 1, the Z cars, the X series, the M cars...all of em. I want one of each in fact, maybe two.
If I really want to get serious about racing, and want to go lightweight, I can always use an e30 or e36, put a lot less money into it than buying a new car to use, and still have an amazing machine. I don't see what the big deal is. Times are changing and BMW is in business to sell cars. I like all of their products and I think they are doing a great job with what they are putting out.
AlarmedBread 04-19-2008, 02:01 AM A vette has all of those goodies and will still run circles around the m3.
I understand that their market is more towards luxury vehicles, but their campaign slogan is the 'ultimate driving machine' when I hear that, I think of raw performance. Maybe to some people a caddilac ride and Idrive Ipod gizmos is the ultimate machine, but where is the driving? I'm not a chevy man, I was brought up by mother mopar, as much as it pains me to admit it, GM got it right with the new corvette. It's the ultimate driving machine of the moment IMO, comfortable and quiet enough to drive every day and will blow the doors off just about anything you come across at the track if you can drive it well enough. You won't even need to change the crappy factory tires because it comes with decent rubber.
Get with the program BMW, you're embarrassing us all. :(
Reuben540i 04-19-2008, 02:29 AM A vette's "goodies" are as good as my stools after I eat mcdonald's all day.
When I think "Ultimate Driving Machine" I think complete package. Fast, great handling, comfortable, good sound system, comfortable infinitely adjustable seats, Bluetooth, the works... I love technology.
Their slogan isn't "The Ultimate Racing Machine"
Besides, ask any of the people that have driven the new M3 on the track and they'll tell you that it's simply amazing. Every automotive magazine article I've read about it says that it is very agile and capable, regardless of what it weighs. I have not seen an article yet that the M3 has lost in a competition between other comparable vehicles. Car and Driver has done several comparison tests in which the M3 has always come out on top, and this non-bias magazine says that "The new M3 still reigns as King"
The corvette may have it beat in the numbers category, but you're still getting a GM product versus a BMW. The M3 has much more to offer. Plus...you suck :p
Reuben540i 04-19-2008, 02:31 AM Hey! wait I got an idea!!!!!!!!
Let's both just go drive each of these cars around a track for a while and then make our decision!! :D
Hmm...if only Car and Driver was hiring...
Reuben540i 04-19-2008, 02:51 AM How are GM products junk? Because they aren't overpriced junk like BMW products? Give me a break :rolleyes.
GM puts all of their money into the engine and drivetrain. Which is cool, I guess, but that's not exactly everything that I want in a car. The quality of the other products they put in the vette's (switches, interior trim, technology gadgets, etc.) is fair at best. It is none better than most of GM's normal car's. Go take a close look at the interior of these cars sometime, they are very cheaply made. Brad Kessler, or KesslerBMW on the boards...used to work for a GM dealership and he showed me all of the little stupid stuff that GM skimped out on to make this car as cheap as possible. Which, in a way, is kind of cool I guess...if you want supercar performance for half the price of a normal supercar. But I want to have a car that has the whole package, I want everything to be nice about it, not just the performance. Just my taste though.
I'd love to have the vette for a track car as well, but if I had to choose one over the other, I get the M3 without hesitation.
AlarmedBread 04-19-2008, 10:02 PM I should not post after a few drinks :rofl
vette is still better though ;)
Reuben540i 04-20-2008, 02:45 PM I should not let leprechanus tell me what to do anymore. But they keep threatening to burn my house so I listen.
Theodore 04-20-2008, 03:15 PM I do not understand. The coupe is teh sex. The sedan looks too normal. Carbon Fiber roof FTW.

Haha... now you're telling me what my opinion should be?
Normal is what I like. I don't want to drive around in an F1 car with wings and vents all over it. Carbon fiber roof... marketing ploy. Replacing a sheet of thin steel isn't saving a ton of weight and is kinda moot when you look at what that pig weighs anyway.

Just givin you a hard time....you're entitled to your own opinion, but that doesn't mean I can't throw poo at it ;)
I guess I like unique. But neither do I want to drive around in a car with a huge wing and vents all over it and what not. The M3 does not have a wing btw. I just think it looks sleek, not too over the top, but not too casual either.
The carbon fiber roof might not save a ton of weight, but it is at the very top of the vehicle, which lowers the vehicle's center of gravity, hence giving it better handling...plus it doesn't have all the sunroof crap which weighs a ton.
p.s. I"m a very sarcastic person, don't take it personally.. :buttrock
Theodore 04-20-2008, 07:46 PM That's the problem w/ the internet... no sarcasm meters! :D
No worries.
I understand about the location of the weight, I just think it's funny that BMW has been pushing that so much on the 3 and 6er. They are getting into grand tourer category, not sports car. That's my frustration w/ the M division now.
I still think the coupe looks too narrow and long. :D
Reuben540i 04-20-2008, 09:20 PM Go look at it in person. Seriously. You might change your mind.
heartbreaker 04-21-2008, 02:09 AM I saw i white coupe in person, well, flying by me. but close enouph. Breathtaking cars i tell ya.
Poowill 04-21-2008, 03:52 AM Hey, i actually talked to this guy when he had dealer plates on it. Young guy, low twenties. Said he got it out of omaha and he had hookups at the dealer there. He said he "Was in finance" haha, dunno, sounds sketchy, he said he got it for under 60k, unless he heard me wrong when i asked him jokingly, "did you get it for 60k?" because of the whole Lincoln thing ha...
Reuben540i 04-21-2008, 08:25 AM low twenties?? geez where do these people work..
And.....are they hiring?..lol
