View Full Version : Caravan upto Uconn Meet
mehale 04-16-2008, 10:01 PM A bunch of us are going to caravan upto the Uconn meet on Saturday, April 19th. We are meeting in the Duchess Parking Lot, (625 Kings Highway) in Fairfield, CT and head up.
Uconn gates open 11:00am and since we all want to park together we are going to be there around gate time open. So we will meetup 9:30 and ready to leave at 9:45am. There will most likely be traffic getting close to Uconn anyway so believe me when i say we probably wont even get there till 11:30 which pretty good time to show up.
We are going to hop on quickly at 95 North since its right next to Duchess, then hit Merrit Parkway North (good dual lane scenic route), to 91 North, to 84East exit 68.
That is directional plan we had the last meet and most likely will be the same. There are alot of different ways to get there but i think Merrit Parkway will be nice and scenic with dual lane caravan.
Also, if you live on the way to the Uconn show from the route i just described above but you wanna hop on the caravan midway or whatever, PM and we can exchange cell numbers to let you know our timing on travel so you can hop on the ramp when we are passing.
To summarize:
Location: Duchess Parking lot, 625 Kings Hwy, Fairfield, CT
Time: 9:30 show up, 9:45 LEAVE! - *COME FILLED UP WITH GAS*
Bring friends obviously if they want to caravan up with us, not just BMW's.
If you guys think we should change the plan a bit for an earlier or later show up and leave, comments are obviously welcome and we will change accordingly.
xtremsiege2 04-17-2008, 12:49 PM I might be in, if i am ill pm you my cell and i can meet everyone somewhere on the merrit because its close to me in norwalk
I'll be there with alot of BMW's from Rhode Island. in my m6.
Mr 4500 RPM 04-17-2008, 05:56 PM I might be going to this . . . still on the fence truth be told. I dont know how their car show is so idk, i just dont want to spend 10 bucks to see some ricers? But I doubt that is the case.
On a side note, we should get more organized then just meeting. Will we be having refreshments? Will we be staying until it closes? Whats the deal with whom are going. I am thinking of getting a cooler together for some sodas and water and some snacks or something.
Is beer allowed? I am tempted to bring some and chill and drink . . . .
Anyway just some thoughts. Also last min prep on Friday, cleaning/detail work get together or not worth it for some? Ideas on this?
Ryan328i 04-18-2008, 07:54 AM Mike - PM me your cell number. Me and another friend (300zx) are going to try and make it. We'll probably meet you up the Merrit somewhere around New Haven.

not the case, i think one year they were able to get a formula one car to show up. of course there will be some, but more nice ones than ricers. Entry is free if you want to just look at cars, the $10 is to put your car in the "show" lot.

They are going to have vendors that have drinks and stuff for us to buy there, i'de be amazed if a redbull car/truck wasn't there passing out promotional drinks as well.

doubt it. If anything there is a bar on campus very close to the meet (walking distance). I actually plan on meeting some friends at and having a drink/food. You can bring some and have it in case it is allowed but i'de rather show up and if it is run down to the liquor store that is on campus to buy some

I'm just going to once over wash the car, not getting to intense in it because i'm going more to hang out with some people and check out some cars. I'm going to pay 10 to enter so I can park with everyone but thats pretty much the only reason.
ct323i 04-18-2008, 10:58 AM I'll be there! It's gonna be tough though cause I'm going to Pacha tonight to see Ferry Corsten! We're gettin VIP too... popping bottles! I will try not to drink .... too much... hopefully get to sleep by 4. ;)
mehale 04-18-2008, 11:36 AM ya i'm going to be hung over tomorrow morning too from a stag party night, but get that cup of Joe and wake up b/c its going to be hopefully a sick show.
3two8eye 04-18-2008, 02:43 PM I'll be joining with xtremeseige. I'm a UConn student but I'm home for the weekend so maybe I can shed a little bit of light.
DO NOT bring beer. They have specified against this. I assume there will be Red Bull reps present.
Lastly, I'm going to suggest that we get off I-84 and take I-384 E to 44 which will avoid the traffic between exit 68 and UConn. This is also a more scenic route.
Hope this is helpful. Looking forward to meeting you all
There are food vendors, but the bars around campus are walkable although expect to spend 10 or more minutes to get to one.
There is always a wide range of cars present. Twin turbo stangs, jacked up trucks, pimped imports, etc. There is something for eveyone, but there is a large presence of early 90s accords with fart cans.
xtremsiege2 04-18-2008, 08:02 PM Like 3twoeye said we're in. Not sure about meeting in fairfield yet or somewhere along the way to save some gas and time..
xtremsiege2 04-18-2008, 08:16 PM edit: ill be there at 930 w/ 3two8eye see everyone then
