A recent thread has me worried as I think I put in Castrol hypoid (sic?) manual transmission oil.

Where can I find colored label indicating what oil to install? I found a black label with part number on it and blue BMW logos but could find no green, red, magenta, cyan, ....

E28's didn't have labels. Redline MTL, Mobil 1 or ATF are all acceptable oils for manual trannies in E28's.

My '85 538e has a green label (for synthetic) on the manual transmission housing (passenger side above fill plug).
