sad to write this but i will have to sell my E30 M3
when i bought it, it was my 3rd car so i never needed to depend on it
but in july my company is moving offices and i won't be able to car pool with my wife anymore
and my Crossfire's lease is over in late may, so i won't have that to fall back on
Which means someone else will get to enjoy my baby
i bought it in june 26th 2007 from the second owner
it was a PA car it's whole life
since then i have changed the sealed beam headlights to US ellipsoids (not smileys)
16" E32 wheels with new 225/45 16" tires
installed a new catalytic converter and new OEM muffler (passed VA emissions easily)
replaced oil/fuel/air filter
replaced brake/engine/power steering/differential oils (transmission next)
replaced coolant (thermostat being replaced next weekend)
replaced faulty sensors (oil pressure and water temp)
replaced front rotors and have rear to be installed with rear bearings
new spark plugs
new rotor/distributor
fixed oil leak (yaay!)
M Tech II steering wheel
E36 M3 illuminated gear knob
replaced all exterior bulbs
replaced all dash lights with LEDS (except alternator light) looks like a new car
new battery
redyed the interior, looks brand new. i would give it 9/10 cuz of the driver seat (needs another coat of black dye), no tears. just looks more used than passenger
replaced/installed all interior plastic bits (the ones that cover the seat mounting bolts, the trim under the steering wheel etc)
replaced seat shocks for passenger, driver is ok
cleaned fuel injectors
adjusted throttle butterflies
compression test done last year, i think it was 195, 190, 190, 185
replaced OBC bulbs with LEDS
SI board ok
i have 2 new wiper grilles( the ones below the windshield) (no rust there thank god)
car has 15% tinted windows, i was very against them when i bought it. but they don't look too bad. they give it a meaner look http://www.s14.net/forums/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
what needs to be done:
rear wheel bearings (have them, will probably do it in may, along with installing rear rotors)
i would like to change all rubber bushings (but it rides very well) (car has H&R springs with OEM shocks, lowered but not too uncomfortable)
change belts
adjust valves
either engine or transmission mounts need to be changed, buzzines in gearknob around 3k rpm (bought 6 series mounts, will install them next weekend, motor mounts are ok)
now the bad news http://www.s14.net/forums/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif
i hit a deer once (god damn bambi) so there is a little damage to the front left fender and hood
broke the left grille but already have replacement left and right
missing 10/12 metric wrench from toolkit
car comes with a full gasket set (valve cover, head gasket, etc) came with car.
no OEM stereo, i have a Sony in there now. speakers are all OEM and all work fine
i think that about summarizes it up http://www.s14.net/forums/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

NYY2007 04-16-2008, 05:35 PM 18k? uh.. ok. Clean m3 though, gl with the sale.
I thought the price was a little steep too.. I'm new to this but why is it at that price, no offense intended
filamqc 04-16-2008, 05:42 PM Will you the "reindeer" damage before you sell it?
SaadsteR 04-16-2008, 05:52 PM superclean m3 ftw id buy for 10k since thats all i have, sorry some lucky guy will get this though. if you wanna sell at 10 let me know lol. good luck with the sale

its a bit expensive but worth ti because of the miles. usually low mile e30 3 series sell at 7ish, but this is an M3, read it carefully, look at the pics
AlphaWolf5 04-16-2008, 06:05 PM 18k for an M3 with accident? sorry that's way too high.

18k is a perfect price imo. Leaves room to negtioate and if it is firm, then the seller is in no hurry. Someone will have the $ to buy this car.
Bump for a nice e30 m :)
joshw02 04-16-2008, 06:29 PM For those of you second guessing the price go to r3vlimited.com or roadfly.com and see what e30 m3's are selling for. Especially low mile cars. Yes the car has a little damage that won't be cheap to fix but it looks pretty minor. E30 m3's have gone way up in Value and are becoming quite collectable. This car is also Henna red which is about the rarest color you can find, and my personal favorite. I do think the seller could have cleaned out his interior and trunk before taking pics, and some sort of a pad under the car seat would help preserve the back seat. Also this car is mostly stock which adds to the value for a purest. I think 18k is maybe a little high but not by much. I've seen low milage e30 m3's sell in the upper teens and low twenty's for the past few months. Also I sold a 88' 325is with some very tastefull mods, plastic bumpers, and 66k original miles last year for 10k.. No way your going to get this car for 10k. I Hope this clears some things up for those of you that don't now the history and rarity of these vehicles..
kmarei 04-16-2008, 08:12 PM for those that are wondering about the price
yes its a little high, but this is the rarest colour
there were only 200 imported into the US in this colour (it was only the first half of model year 88)
probably a lot less now due to some being converted into race cars, and some that crashed etc in the last 20 years
check out autotrader

the only other henna they have has 140K miles and is offered for 21K
i put 18K because i want a quick sale
and forget kelly blue book for this car
its way off, see how much they go for on ebay, autotrader and the various BMW forums
then see if you think its expensive or not
and it is getting harder to find a low milage, non-molested example
i know, because i had to search a lot to find this example when i bought it last year in june, and it wasn't cheap
and i have already done a lot of work on it
here are some pics of the engine
http://kmarei.homeip.net:8000/files/s14.zip
oh and yes i do have protection under the car seat :)
i have some foam padding stuck to the bottom of the seat
the pads sometimes move around

A little contradictory to comment a comment. Spell check is your friend as well.
kmarei 04-17-2008, 06:29 AM a little M3 history for the people that were wondering why it's worth more than a standard E30

bigdog68 04-18-2008, 10:37 PM WOW! that is a nice car. I have been searching for an E30 M3 and Henna is the most beautiful colour out there. Very nice car and the price is just right. To all the people that commented on the price of this car, pull your heads out of your @$$es and realize this is one of the all time great cars BMW ever made. The E30 is awesome the E30 M3 is Gods Chariot! Good luck with the sale man, if I was not about to buy a new house I would be making you an offer, sorry I can't. Good luck.
kmarei 04-18-2008, 11:28 PM i would choose the M3 over the house :)
house, there are many
M3 there is only 1
and it has 4 cylinders :)

:lol Gotta love the noobs busting out KBB for an E30 M3.
Slvr328IS 04-19-2008, 08:15 PM I'd say it was worth 18k if it did not have front end damage. But it looks to be in pretty good condition. If he gets 14-15k for this car, he should be pretty happy.
jcrist 04-19-2008, 08:32 PM The car is worth exactly what someone will pay for it. None of the jacks commenting on the price fall into that category. Whaty do yoi think speelcheck guy?
kmarei 04-19-2008, 11:31 PM if it did not have the front end damage this car could be worth in excess of 20K
there are not that many Hennas around
and if you want a garage queen you would have to pay over 25K
i know because i was looking for a henna M3 for over a year
the very good ones are not for sale and kept as collecters cars
i saw some with 7K miles
and i have seen them sell for over 30K
as for the front end damage
it really isnt that bad, its just the fender and hood
because i hit the body of the deer, not the horns
i know the fender can be done easily if its removed from the car
makes it easier to fix the dents
and the hood worst case, if it needs to be changed
since its one of the few parts shared with the standard E30 is not expensive
the price of a brand new hood is $341 from bimmer.com
so i don't think the damage would bring the price from 18 down to 14 or 15
i think the damage brings the price of the car down to 18 from around 20-21
the only Henna on autotrade now has 140K miles and is selling for 21K
blackm3 04-20-2008, 07:30 AM Why not spend some money and fix the issues with the car. For that color and mileage, you can sell it over 20k to a real enthusiast that knows something about e30 M3. Don't listen to the noobs that have no ideas about the car, or haven't even driven in one.
Too bad you're selling this time of year, wanna hold it til next year for me??:D PM me if you need some contacts to sell it. I know a group of e30 M3 fanatics that's probably interested.
Drop in a M50 engine and that car will be a hoot to drive..
GL with the sale.
kmarei 04-20-2008, 10:09 AM i was going to fix it
but now i need to sell it soon because i will need my car to go to work each day
and i don't want to put a lot of miles on this baby
rmani 04-20-2008, 10:58 AM great looking car GL with the sale. e30 m3s are quite rare.

You're talking about "enthusiasts" but you suggest: "Drop an M50 engine and that car will be a hoot to drive."
Are you high? You want to rip a low mileage original S14 out of car in good condition? You need to check your "enthusiast" credentials. An "enthusiast" wouldn't do that to this car. If the engine were trashed and the car had higher miles MAYBE swap in something different but certainly not an M50.
OP: Good luck with the car. IF you were taking trades I would have a nice offer for you. And yes, I know you're not. :)
Steves95M3 04-20-2008, 11:48 AM VERY VERY good price for a Henna car. I would LOVE to have another E30 M3. Just a little early for another one yet. As far as the price I have an 88 Alpineweiss I with 175k on her, and would not even think of selling for less than $15k. PERIOD.

Yes I'm a enthusiast but sorry I don't have a credential so don't get your panties wet. Just depending on what you want to do with the car. Some of us enjoy REAL driving (ie. on the track) which I am sure you probably never seen one or driven on one. I've seen track junkies ripped out a mint condition e30 M3 and installed a M50 engine, replaced a perfectly engine in a 95 LTW and put in a euro engine.
So thanks for your input...so STFU and get back into the bimmer's ride section where you belong.
Sorry OP to clutter up your FS post...free bump :)

Is that all you can do? Flame? Pathetic IMO.
I seriously doubt you mean an M50. I bet you mean an S50. And even so that would be a travesty to do that to this car. I suggest you spend a little more time with the kiddies describing your mods in your signature and less time cluttering up the threads of serious enthusiasts with your nonsense.
blackm3 04-20-2008, 10:57 PM FSUboy...so you're considering yourself a serious enthusiast???:vffani..teehee.
I don't want to clutter up the OP FS post. Why don't you go over to the track forum and post about the travesty about putting another engine into a e30M3..we can all use a good laugh:D...common I dared you....
Some guys over there installed LS1 engine into their e36M3...I'm sure with your expertise on the M cars and your driving skills..surely you can enlighten a couple of old instructors on how to do a better drift or install some angel eyes ring on our LS1 powered M3.
I'm done with this tread...see you over at the track forum??????????????????
FSUhorizon 04-20-2008, 11:26 PM I feel like I'm arguing with a two year old here. :rolleyes
In consideration of the OP, let's take this discussion OUT of his thread. I've posted this in the E30 M3 forum:

i'm literally crying over the idiocy of this post. who the eff brings out kbb for a 20yr old car, get a clue noob.
gl with the sale op, such a sick car. too bad not many know or appreciate the find this is.
M62pwrdE38 04-22-2008, 10:01 PM Free bump for an awesome, rare car.
And :rofl at people quoting KBB and saying its way overpriced. Check out S14.net...a silver on red M3 with under 60k went for over $25k recently, the price is pretty fair.
An M50? :rofl2.

He does have a point, tho. You could pull the fender, have a hood shipped (or have the hood fixed) and then just take them to the body shop and have em pound them out and fix them. The paint will match because it hasn't been sunbleached...
After fixing the body issues you could probably turn around and sell the car for a LOT more, or even sell it QUICKLY at this price. Yes, it takes some effort (and a little time) but it will help the car sell that much better/faster because it has no gripes. you can install the fender, hood, grills etc yourself. cheap, quick, easy.
You might want to reconsider..

I wouldn't replace the hood. The hood looks like it can be fixed. Replacing the body panel devalues the car.

I really think the cost of repair will be much higher than expected.
I've had 2 Henna M3's and i assure you, the paint will not match when you repair or replace the hood & fender. I can see the color has faded already from looking at the pics...
Replacing panels will de-value it because the vin tags wont match.
kmarei 04-28-2008, 11:00 AM well the cost of a new hood and fender if you wanted to do that is $342 for hood and $235.
in damage such as this, they would paint the hood and both fenders to get a match.
the paint is not faded, you have to see it in real life to see that.
DrLivingston 04-28-2008, 05:29 PM It's a great car and to be honest there is no "handbook" on the sale of a E30 M3. For the guy's that know and don't know obviously this car is rare. around 5 thousand made it to the US. That color is even more rare which seller stated. And frankly with so many guys that buy an M3 and either can't afford a rebuild of an S14 or simply jack it out for more power, the combo of a stock S14, Henna colored E30 M3 is pretty sweet. I think ppl would understand more if someone broke down the numbers of what is actually still survived of this car but thats impossible. Other than that good luck with this sale someone will pay whatever they want for this car and for everyone else... if they don't know, they'll just never get it :)
kmarei 04-28-2008, 07:13 PM if you don't get it, you don't get it
:)
someone will pay 18K for this car
fix it up, and sell it for over 20K easily
kmarei 05-02-2008, 09:16 AM price lowered to $16,500
arakele 05-02-2008, 05:31 PM very clean.. I used to live in Reston.

Armenianstyle90 05-05-2008, 03:30 AM lmao at Kbb quote. This car is worth every penny. How much did u sell for if u dont mind asking
kmarei 05-05-2008, 12:44 PM car was sold for 16K but the buyer backed out
car is still for sale
i would settle for 16K till the end of this week
if not then i can't buy the Audi i need, so the car will no longer be offered at such a low price anymore
Armenianstyle90 05-06-2008, 01:04 AM I see. i got to sell my 2005 330i zhp first. No e30 owner wants to trade. lol. when i sell it ill let you know but I found a salvage E30 for $6500 so im gonna go check that one out. I dont care about salvage as long as its fixed right and not just duct tape. lol. Anyways, goodluck bro and lmao at e30 over house. true. e30 is more important
