View Full Version : Do Not Buy From Ko Performance!
peduhpan 04-14-2008, 01:29 PM So I ordered a pair of front fender liners for my E39 on March 9 (Sunday). Credit card has been charged at this point. Waited a week and e-mailed them on March 17 (Monday). Received an e-mail back from Eric on March 18 (Tuesday) saying that they're swamped with orders and trying to catch up and told me to check again back next Monday. Next Monday comes around and e-mailed Eric and didn't hear back since. Tried calling them and e-mailing but no response. I'm usually a patient guy but a month wait is enough! I'm going to call my credit card company, file a report and let every one on this forum to not buy from KO Performance!

That's not cool... Charging your credit before they ship out the item...

Yup not cool at all. I received the billing statement from my credit card company like two weeks afterwards and still no sign of the fender liners.
peduhpan 04-14-2008, 03:06 PM I finally got in touch with one of the sales rep over on the phone. Asked him why it took so long. At the time I ordered it, both front fender liners were in stock and since they were swamped with orders to fulfill and lead-time the left front fender went out of stock. This made me frustrated at this point. He said he's going to call me back since he have to make some calls to find out which warehouse has it or can get it asap.
forumjp59 04-14-2008, 03:30 PM dam, thats awful. That is why I stopped using e-mail when I place orders, calling is always so much better.
peduhpan 04-14-2008, 07:22 PM So the update as of now is that Sherwin over at KO Performance will send me whatever fender liner he has in stock and will get me the other fender liner to me asap when he gets it. So far excellent customer service from Sherwin.
Same thing has happened to me except I haven't gotten an email response back yet, I'm gonna call and see what happens. Won't be using them again though.
yoda888 04-15-2008, 02:52 PM just FYI..legally they can't charge your card if they have not shipped out the product..easiest thing to do is to do a chargeback on your CC...the vendors love that! :D
OxfordM3 04-17-2008, 05:40 AM Every order I have placed with them, I make sure to do so with the owner, John Paul. No problems so far. Shouldn't have to be this way...but yea...
Send him an email about this. jpk@koperformance.com
vibes 04-19-2008, 01:25 PM KO Performance isn't great, but most EVERY online store charges your card before shipping to ensure its a legit card.
lowside67 04-19-2008, 03:09 PM I had a god awful experience with KO.
I ordered $600 worth of parts in early March including an X-brace, $300 for an OEM set of clears, and other genuine BMW replacement parts.
The X-brace is being dropshipped from a dealership, KO says that the other stuff will arrive before the X-brace. X-brace arrives a week later. No other package. A week later, still no other package. 2 weeks later, I'm on the phone trying to figure out what's going on - it hasnt even been SHIPPED! Finally I get all the stuff, bring it across the border.
Fast forward to a few days ago when I finally have time to install my euro clears - they ARENT OEM and fit like crap!
Phoned back and dealt with Sherwin who was very nice on the phone and promised to send me a set of OEM clears, however, he has not returned my call after that and I have not seen any taillights.
Not a scam per se, but will not be doing business with them again.
hmsM3 04-19-2008, 06:15 PM i know alot of people have had bad experiences with them especially with the whole turbo kit thing a few years ago or so but i actually had a positive one. I got my exhaust from them sometime last year and and everything went smooth. sorry to hear about your bad experience.
Same experience here...i ordered some shadowline trim that was in stock on their site. Placed ordered and waited 10 days and sent an email out and recieved the same response (backlogged and will be out shortly). Sent 3 more emails in the course of 2 weeks and finally recieved my product a month later. They wont return their emails unless you tell them your cancelling the order.
BEAMERGUY4EVER 05-10-2008, 11:28 AM Same sad story.
Ordered some parts from KO because the price was right... they charged the $175 to my card and sent me an invoice with no tracking info. Order was placed 4/6/08.
Waited over two weeks and finally sent an email requesting update/tracking info on 4/22/08.
Here is Erick's reply on 4/24/08:
I apologize for the delay in reponse time. It's been pretty hectic at the office.
Unfortunetly we have been backed up a bit on shipments due to a high volume of orders in the past two months. We are trying to catch up as best we can to coming back to same day shipment. Right now I see that your order is on our warehouse shipping cue and should be shipping out early next week. If you would like to follow up mid next week I should have a tracking number available for you.
Thanks,
Erick
Up to this point I am being fairly patient and understanding because it seems they are at least trying to communicate with me and get my order shipped out.
So I sent another email requesting tracking info on 5/2/08, as instructed by Erick.
I have still recieved no reply. What great service, eh?
By the way, I'm a first time customer with these guys, but they obviously don't give a sh!t about my future business (or that of my friends, family, and co-workers for that matter).
It has now been 5 weeks and not even a tracking number. I guess it is time dispute the charge.
I suggest you all avoid this vendor.
They might have a better price on some stuff, but if you want the parts this year...
check out www.pelicanparts.com (http://www.pelicanparts.com).
They have always been prompt and professional in the past.
Just to be clear:
I am not posting this to hurt KO Performance, I am posting this to warn my fellow consumers.
KO Performance is in control of their own reputation. If this is how they want to do business, this is how they will be known.
BEAMERGUY4EVER 05-10-2008, 11:30 AM Sorry forgot to mention: I have tried to reach them by phone countless times... every time I have gotten a recording saying best way to reach them for order update/tracking info is by email.
328iJunkie 05-10-2008, 01:08 PM Pelican parts FTW
lowside67 05-10-2008, 01:33 PM +1 I have not seen my replacement taillights nor have I received a phone call or email. I'm through with them and will happily warn anybody and everybody on the subject of what garbage their service is.
VNG704 05-10-2008, 01:42 PM Pelican parts FTW
yes they are ftw
Mpowered95 05-10-2008, 03:27 PM I've almost bought from KO a number of times, but their website is screwed. i go to buy OEM floor mats and it puts french fogs in my basket... wtf? i just gave up and went with Tischer!
BEAMERGUY4EVER 05-14-2008, 11:48 AM it is official, ko is dodging me. absolutely no reply to my latest email which included a request for a full refund.
time to contact my bank and the better business bureau i guess.

Have you tried calling them?

Have you read the thread and posts before making such a post?

I on the other hand have had good transactions with KO. Ordered my parts and got them in a timely manner. Sorry you guys didn't work out quite so well.
TBM311 05-14-2008, 03:28 PM A few ppl. have replied that the reason this particular vendor has not fullfilled your order in a timely fashion was b/c they were "busy/back logged." Personally, that just doesnt seem like a justified excuse. As a consumer, I could care less how busy you are. You don't ship my items out when you have free time. Just doesn't make sense to me and it looks like it was used more than once from this vendor. Some of you guys are super patient, waiting two weeks for your stuff to ship =)

LOL. AND some of you guys have your panties crammed up there too tight.
I know guys that have ordered lights and HIDS from a cheapo fleebay like bf.c vendor and have been waiting for like at least a month and still don't have their products they paid for in hand. Similarly, I know a couple a guys that are waiting on transmission mounts from another vendor that have them backordered.
You pay the best cheapest price just as everyone else is and no matter what there is going to be congestion somewhere.
Sooo... Chillout.
lowside67 05-14-2008, 11:58 PM Just because you are willing to accept crappy service and inferior parts doesnt mean that the rest of us are. I paid top dollar for what I thought was true and true OE parts in a timely fashion as I was getting ready for the trip to the bodyshop. KO pushed my plans back timewise and then sent me knockoffs to boot. Totally unacceptable.
BMWManiac 05-25-2008, 10:18 PM I think I've spent almost a couple grand with KO and never had a problem.....but their website is a bit screwy....
TehPandaShow 05-30-2008, 02:18 PM My order was delayed for a week and I bitched and they shipped it the quickest way, I think they are trying to stay on top, but they are lacking on employees. Which explains it all, but I am sure they will work with you, I hope they can get their stuff together. Soon. :)
palomino 06-04-2008, 02:22 AM I had to wait about a month to receive my parts after ordering.
They were super helpful & quick to answer my questions through email BEFORE I placed the order, which was great. When I started asking what the hold-up was after a week of checking the front doorstep, my emails went unanswered. It was hard for me to set aside time to call them because I had to deal with the 3 hour time difference and my busy schedule. After a few unanswered phone calls and one nasty message, I finally got a hold of someone. I received my package a day or two later, and it said that it had been sent out on the same day that I spoke to someone. Coincidence? :az
Perhaps people would have better experiences with them if you call them and whine after a few days?
Their prices seem to be a lot better than other vendors, which is important to me. I dont mind waiting a little longer, but a full month is just ridiculous. If they're really that busy, its time to start recruiting everyone you know to get those orders out!
BEAMERGUY4EVER 06-09-2008, 08:19 PM End result: parts were sitting on my doorstep when I got back from Japan. No email, no tracking number, no returned phone call/voicemail. I am glad they got me the parts, but the communication was truly lacking with these guys, and it took 6 weeks or more? to get my parts. I should get my shipping expenses refunded or something!
In response to others, here is the deal...
If you put quality parts out there for really good prices, you have to expect a lot of orders. They (KO) know they have very little competition with their prices, yet they have like 2 or 3 employees? That is just dumb.
All I am saying is, if you want to have some of the best prices on the web, you better gear up for loads of business or you will not stay in business for long. Yeah they got me the parts and made good profit probably, but I wont order from them again knowing how sloppy they are with fulfillment. If you are going to be slow, that is one thing, but to be slow and not communicate with the customer is really bad.
I have bought things from overseas before and waited weeks without any concern because I had tracking info in hand and an expected delivery date. This was different.
Remember, I am a first-time customer with these guys, too. And last-time.
