It's looking good for the #03 DM car to be back in action following some more miracles from the folks at Ultra-Motive in Birmingham, AL and Kinetic/Sunbelt Performance Engines after the "fun" we had at Barber in the feature race. Who knows? We may even be able to squeeze in a few improvements before loading-up for the trek through the I40 gorge! ;););)

I can't speak for the other 93 entrants but I'm 99% ready. I just need to warm up the truck and head out. I think there's 85 cars so that's about 30 cars per mile on track. This should be interesting.

Yeah. Leaving the shop at 6am puts us on the Cross Bronx at ~6:45am, over the G.W. bridge at ~7:30am and on I-95 south by ~ 8:00am. From there it's gravy. The key is to hit the Cross Bronx before rush-hour. Should all go well, VIR at ~6pm. You never know what can happen between the shop and I-95, though.

Make sure you get through DC by 3PM or you'll be screwed from Springfield to Frednecksburg.

Might be a good option to bypass the entire DC area using I97, US301.

Christopher,

After Ashland headed South on I-95 as you approach Richmond, take I-295 to Charlottesville then exit on to I-64 West to C-ville for about two miles then take exit to 288 South. Exit off 288 at Hull Street/360 West. Take it all the way to South Boston where 360 joins 58 into Danville. Four lane all the way. Cops allow at least 8 mph over. I will not help pay for tickets.

Hey Chris, convoy with us. We're leaving Boston wednesday nite at 10pm and pulling an ironman to get to Clays for the day. No traffic, and a couple other people to help out in emegencies.

But if you get to the track and can't find me, I'll be at Watts' compound making vroom vrooooom noises. He gave permission.

Getting the car tech'ed tonight. Should be good to go. Wrapped up the fire suppression system last night (just need to charge it).

I pulled off the Summit Mortgage and Motorsports Coverage decals since they're no longer needed. Yeah..... Off came the paint with them. :mad
Most of yesterday afternoon/evening comprised of repainting parts of the car. I'm glad its just a standard black. (Horray for spray paint and a 24 hour Auto Zone around the corner from me!) I took the oppotunity to paint the uglyass side moulding. Just need to eventually do the window trim and kidney grills and I'll be officially blacked out!

Heading to our Toyota plant in WV Thursday morning for an afternoon meeting. Headed out around 3, so I'll get into VIR sometime in the evening. I'll be rooming with Vivek. We'll see if he can keep up with us at night ;)

Son, them there redneck girls would be happy to 'splain it to ya', they don't take too kindly to "yankees", but buy them a few shots of Jack Black, and anything can happen.

My shop is here on my Farm in the middle of 1000 acres, and when people start down our road (1.5 miles long), alot of them turn around and call on the cell phone. I always laugh and ask them if they were thinking "Deliverance". Most of them do, but are pleasantly surprised, especially with the shop.

Les, my partner Bruce has been campaigning race cars since '81. He knows all of the trick "bypass" routes. I am pretty sure the one you mentioned is on the itinerary, or at least some of it. Please bring some surplus Irish Spring (the green kind). I'm out of stock and getting gamy.

I'd totally be down for a convoy, however I ain't the only one heading-out in the rig. It's a majority vote as to when we leave. 6am Thursday it is. I'll seek you out when I get there. Sourcing the vroom vrooooom noises should be easy enough.

The F2000 series will also be sharing the track with us. They have 50-60 cars showing-up, and they tend to get a little squirrely. In fact, we may have to bail-out a few cars that had their transporter break-down on the way to VIR yesterday and stick them in our rig. I predict a short-session here and there over the course of the weekend as it is. No time for HPDEs.
