I had apexcone 55w 8000k h1 hid' s but then one of the bulbs or ballasts blew and i took them out to send them back so i put my regular h1 bulbs back in. every since the low beam failure message came on from when my hid's were in now even with the regular bulbs the lbf message still comes on everytime i turn on my headlights. any ideas of what might be cuasing this or how i can get it to stop comin up. it didn't throw a code before when i had these bulbs in so i dunno what's up. I tried checking all the plugs and connections and everything looks find. thanks in advance

I had the same problem in my E34. The only suggestion I got was the LKM. I am just waiting for another one to show up in the mail. It should be here this week, I will let you know if that fixes it. Does the E36 have an LKM?

what's LKM stand for? I read that thread posted above and i don't see why i would need the lbf eliminators when i have regular halogens in there again. before i had my hid's these same exact bulbs were in there for like a year and i never had a lbf message and now after switching back i do. maybe there is like a weak connection somewhere that i couldn't find. i keep hopin it just goes away one day but its been like this for a good 2 or 3 months now

LKM is the light control module.

I replaced the LKM and the message went away with the stock halogens. My Eliminator kit isn't working right now so I don't know if I will get the message with HIDs. I was hoping that the LKM was the reason only one side is working, but it still doesn't work.
