I own a 2000 540IT wagon and I really don't care for the wood trim. So I started a project to paint the trim gunmetal gray. I was able to remove everything except the trim piece that hides the cassette. Does anyone have any experience removing this piece.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

i just painted mine....i took a pair of needle nose plyers and pulled out the two little metal pins on each side that hold the springs (top right and top left ) make sure you hold the spring with your finger when pulling out the pin or you will lose the spring.

I just received a blank cover to replace my front cup holders and it's got a really cool finish on it - sort of like brushed gun metal (bad description). I wish all of my trim looked like it does.

Some new pics of painted wood trim to a shade of gun metal. The flash is giving off different shades of the gun metal paint. I will take more pics, which hopefully will be better pics. I also need to replace the brake pedal pad.

you know bmw actually sells a gunmetal colored trim exactly like that. Im not talking about the titanium trim but its just a dark gray. Ive only seen it on gray interior 530s.... I thought about getting that....

Thanks... It's a single stage paint which included clear coat. I removed most of the trim and a friend removed the center console, ashtray and door trim to thecassette. I had another friend spray all the pieces.

I didn't know that, I'm new to the BMW world. Do you know if the 530's interior is identical to a 2000 540IT?

Thanks,

Mike

In realoem one of the M5 trim options is "satin finish chrome" or" mattchrome". Is this the same one?

I just checked with my friend and it was a custom color that he had left over and did not keep a record of the formula.
