well guys i installed the new fan clutch today my self. I no the at fluid takes some time to distribute throught the fan clutch but i was wondering how long does that usually take? my fan is still moving at the speed of the engine basically. also i noticed when i was doing the waterpump and thermostat that on the coolant overflow tank, there seems to be a sensor on the bottom that is not plugged in. i looked all around for the harness connector but could not find it. Does anyone kno where the connector comes from?

I have the same thing on my 98 528i. I was told it might just be a sensor that was used on older models that has been replaced with a different sensor somewhere else.

Not sure what you mean here. The Fan clutch is a sealed unit, the fluid is already inside when you buy it. It takes no time at all for the clutch to be working. If you do not touch the fan it will normally spin(though slower than the engine it will move faster than you can see it) This is normal, It will never ever come to a stop unless you touch it with something(like a rolled up newspaper) then you can hold it in place. As the engine heats up(or rather the air moving through the radiator and over the clutch heats up) the clutch will apply more and more drag on the fan causing the fan to pull with more and more power(and thus moving more and more air) as the air cools, the applied power is reduced.
