Hey guys,

I am looking to purchase either 3.0 or 3.2 euro engine. How much does it usually cost with the engine together with the accesories...fuel, pump, harness, etc. to install in a US e36 M3.

Planning to give Alex L or bimmerworld a call. Where would one go to get replacement parts?

TIA!

There are many variables including what additional engine work you desire, and what parts you can carry over from your US car.

Talk to Alex. He will take care of you.

Figure 1-2k in misc parts

You realize you can't put it in anything but a 95 chassis and get it pass emissions right?

SA have no smog check. Just visual only, no sniffer. Car will be dedicated track car. I'm planning on rolling on a e39M5 like you as a DD :)

Figure $10k give or take before you sell your old stuff to subsidize the project.

LTW flywheels, Shortened differentials, and aftermarket exhausts will drive the price up depending on how far you want to go with it..

I thought all large Texas counties had sniffer tests now? I know the counties around Dallas went to sniffer tests a few years ago. But if it is a track car (like mine)- who cares?

I am selling my E39 M5 to upgrade the track stuff.

If you read my sig, I already have all of that mentioned and more. What about replacement parts for the engine??

Been thinking about doing this after the ES and AA TS blower became NLA. Thought of a LS1 engine that Vorslag been working on did cross my mind :):)

What replacement parts? People always say it's harder to get replacement parts (which it isnt, i've ordered Euro stuff through the dealer without a problem) but there really isn't much that needs to be replaced on these motors... Worst case with gaskets and such you need to wait two weeks for a part to arrive.

I'm still in the "purchase necessary and other parts mode" while waiting for the engine to arrive.

The cat pipe and cat back needs to be replaced. The US spec intake does not work either. I wanted the insurance of a more substantial oil cooler so that was upgraded. My factory radiator was questionable, so that was replaced. Cams and install was a couple thousand.

I've not totaled up the receipts yet, but guessitmate I'll have $13k in the swap before freight is figured in and the selling off of the engine, track pipe and cat back.
