Fitzla 04-11-2008, 12:19 PM 2006, you have the 3.0 255 hp engine. I believe 2005 was the last year of the 3.0 225 hp engine. justmetoo 04-11-2008, 01:13 PM 2006, you have the 3.0 255 hp engine. I believe 2005 was the last year of the 3.0 225 hp engine. Fitza & all: According to wikipedia, the 2004 thru 2006 530 models have the 52B30 engine, which was made in three versions: “The N52B30 comes in three versions, all displacing 3.0 L (2996 cc/182 in³) and produces variable outputs depending on the BMW model that it comes with (with changes to the variable resonance system-omitted, dual plenum runner system-also omitted and variable back pressure muffler-omitted) 190 kW (255 hp) at 6600 and 300 N·m (221 ft·lbf) at 2500-4000 rpm is the first and most produced version, while the second one is more powerful at 195 kW (265 hp) at 6600 and 315 N·m (232 ft·lbf) at 2750-4250 rpm. The third version is just starting to replace the first 190 kW versions on the E90/E60 in Late 2006 and has first been released on the new E92 330i Coupé. It will produce 200 kW (272 hp) at 6650 and 315 N·m (232 ft·lbf) at 2750-4250 rpm.” To complicate things further, there are US and European versions as well….. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_E60 Wondering if there is a code in the vin number or somewhere else on the car that would identify the specific version. White94RX 04-11-2008, 03:26 PM raise the hood. if you have a dipstick it's an M54. The N52 doesn't have a dipstick. That is great, but the 2004-2005 530i in the US had the 3.0 225 hp engines. In 2006, that was raised to 255. Your wikipedia article doesn't talk about those so I believe it is wrong. Unless it is only speaking of 2006-2007 models. justmetoo 04-11-2008, 09:27 PM That is great, but the 2004-2005 530i in the US had the 3.0 225 hp engines. In 2006, that was raised to 255. Fitzla 04-11-2008, 11:57 PM My model is the 2006 (made in April 530i)...... And? You have 255 hp, right? What I am trying to say is that Wikipedia is wrong, since the 2004-2005 530's have 225 hp. 30 hp less that the 2006-2007. And like I said in my first post to you, you have the 3.0 liter 255 hp engine. justmetoo 04-12-2008, 09:02 AM And? You have 255 hp, right? Is there a reference to support your 255 hp number for my 2006 530i made in April 2006 for European delivery (i.e. is there a number on the engine, frame or vin that can be decoded if one has the BMW rosetta stone)? Fitzla 04-12-2008, 01:15 PM Go to a site like Carmax.com and look at the different years of 5 series. Check out the 2006 530's compared to the 2005. Check out the brochure for the 2006 5 series. There are only 3 models (or 5 if you include xdrive) of the 5 series ever produced for the US. From 2003-2007 it was sthe 525i/xi, 530i/xi and 545i (2004-2005) and 550i (2006-2008. And now, it is 528i, 535i and 550i. The horsepower was increased across the board in 2006. Here is the brochure for 2006. http://www.e60.net/information/2006_5_Series_Brochure.pdf And here is the brochure for the 2005, so you can see the difference. http://www.e60.net/information/2005_5_Series_Brochure.pdf justmetoo 04-12-2008, 09:28 PM Go to a site like Carmax.com and look at the different years of 5 series. BMW 2006 530i is 255hp per the BMW brochure for 2006. I'm disappointed in wikipedia's bad information... White94rx, Definitely not M54. N92B30 (and my 2006 530i) has no dipstick..... |
