I need new tires, I have a 99 with staggered LTW's, the car is stock suspension and I wanted to know if i could get away with 235/40/17F and 255/40/17R, or should I just stick with the stock 225/45 and 245/40 ?

Thanks guys!:alright

The 235's are about 1/2" less in overall diameter than your current wheel size so should be ok. the 255's are about 1/4" greater in overall diameter than your current wheel. I would recommend a 255/35 to keep the ratio in overall diameter similar to your current wheels. If you go with the 255/40, you will have a slight greater drop from back to front than you do right now, which probably isn't too big of a deal. The additional 10mm in width should not result in any wheel well rubbing.

The staggerd lightweight rim is a 17" by 7.5" width front and 8.5" width in back...

So up front he can run anywhere from a 225/40 (better ride) to a 235/40 (better handing). The 8.5 rear tends to be best with a 245/40 (stock size), the 255/40 may need a fender roll depending on the tire.

Honestly, if you have time, I'd see if you can find a pair of 8.5" LTW rims and run 245/40 all around. Great ride and handling for the street.

But if you had to run it now... I vote a 235/40 up front and 245/40 rear.

Anyone know if 245/40/17s will rub on a 01 convertible with four stock 8.5s?
Thanks
