5 stomps in 5 seconds, right? What am I doing wrong?

Also, anybody know a good mechanic in Nashville, TN?

1. Turn the ignition key on (without starting the car) and depress the accelerator pedal to the floor 5 times within 5 seconds.
2. The check engine light will remain lit for 5 seconds, blink off, light for 2.5 seconds, goes off for 2.5 sec. and will start flashing the codes.
3. Each code is separated by a 2.5 sec. pause. A 0.5 sec. blink then nothing means the end of the code reading. To read them again, depress the accelerator pedal 5 times again.

Has anyone ever done this stomp test on a 95' 540i and made it work?

I've never been able to get the stamp test to work. I've done a freaking engine swap, but I can't get the stomp test.

Keep trying. It has a mind of its own ... sometimes you'll hit it on the first try, other times you'll spend all evening trying and not get it to work.

Best tip I can give: start stomping as soon as you turn the key.

I've had my codes flash with no problem. ('95 540i/A)

Make sure you're stomping the pedal hard enough that it hits the button on the floor.

As soon as you turn the key did the trick.

Thanks..
