yea i remeber the thread a while back where you were asking for clearence. Man, i wanna see this thing wide open, with nitrous pouring in!!! So what kind of rear tires are you gonna be running? should find some solid ruber tires, as thats the only thing thats gonna last longer then a few miles:buttrock

Thanks i like the purple too! I am debating back and forth on doing the fuel rail in purple.

My wastegate is purple, the clamps are purple, and my blow off valves (when I get them in) are purple. The fuel rail is red to match the nitrous fittings though

tonyroc14
04-11-2008, 12:02 AM
id keep it red, need a little color. And then your nitrous fittings would look out of place if you changed the rail.

Before you forsake mechanical engineering and go into your calling:marketing, please do us all a favor and stop this madness and join Boosted Anonymous.Plese repeat:

1)I admit I am powerless over boostl—that my life has become unmanageable
2)Come to believe that a Power greater than me could restore me to sanity.

I moved to e34s after I joined boosted anonymous... and what happens, Jon starts in with the damn boost, waving it in my face again, tempting me to max out my CCs to resume my addiction.

just outta curiosity (and you may have already posted about it) but are you going to strengthen the drivetrain besides the clutch? (ie driveshaft, diff, half shafts?)

With all that power (a lot) seems like something has got to give lol

For now the car has aluminum/urethane mounts and all - I'll be making a driveshaft hoop, and later once its tuned I'll be driveshaft shopping. The axles - we're not sure hat we're going to do about that yet - but yeah, there are plans to do something.

Just curious, but is that an aluminum (aka hard) tube running from the turbo to the intercooler?

yes

So how do you account for engine movement? The engine is isolated from the chassis with soft engine mounts while the intercooler looks like it's mounted on the rad core support. Without a flexible connection the aluminum will develop a stress fracture and fail. Most systems that use hard piping still have silicone connectors and clamps. Unless you're running a huge amount of boost a samco flexible hose would do just fine and transfer less heat from the engine bay.

Those are nice :eyecrazy.. I was wondering the same thing, but that definitely answered my question.

There is a source overseas for stronger halfshafts, it was posted here once before. If you run slicks you're going to eat them it seems.. what do the e36 guys do?

Nice, they didn't have those when I was playing around with my GTI 1.8T. Didn't realize they had o-rings to allow for flex. 125psi is some major boost :devillook

Yeah they had them when you had your 1.8T - they've had them for years... they're just $215 a clamp so not many people use them!
