okay, so the default option was to buy 6000K, but I want to be legal, which means my headlights need to look white (not blue) from far away or I risk getting pulled over here in Maryland.

I still have the option to change it, because they are backed up with shipping orders.

I got DEPO Euro Ellipsoids, with Predator Chromium Angel Eyes. 6000K temp.

Don't worry man, they really aren't very blue at all, they are just a pure white. You certainly won't get pulled over for them being too blue. I have plenty of pics of mine (click pic in sig to see them) although they aren't great quality pics.

I also mean the high and low beams. My 5000K high beams that are only the halogen (9005) bulbs, in 100W output (55W current draw), look scarily blue, almost enough to be pulled over, so I have been using my high beams sparingly.

Now I need to be sure that the temps for *genuine* HID's and other stuff is different, because, like I said, my **5000K** h-i-d-lookalike stock-size 9005 halogen bulbs LOOK PRETTY BLUE UNLESS YOU STICK A PIECE OF WHITE PAPER. I am afraid I might get pulled over for them, so again, I use them sparingly.

Again, if someone can either reassure me or correct me, I STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO CHANGE THE PROBLEM. They are backed up, so they won't ship for another week or two (no telling if it's tomorrow they ship, or two weeks from now).

That's because those halogens are coated blue. A 6000K HID setup looks pure white, and the 6000K AEs also look pure white. You'll be fine :)

yes, they *are* coated blue. I didn't know that made a difference.

Yeah, my angel eyes are the same color as the ones above the pic of the blue ones, and also the first picture.

This picture of my car is a pretty good representation of the color too. And you can also see how lame plain halogen can look next to HID (fogs were regular, clear halogen bulbs then).

LOL if I had a perfect driving record and was turning 21 not 23 this month, then I would DEFINITELY do that! what a wonderful idea!

If we were rich (or maybe when we become rich), we should do that to a friend. Like have it installed while he's at work in his new bimmer, and have it remotely turn on while he's driving down the road, like 5 minute timer after he turns on his lights or starts his car. Then install a camera somewhere cause you don't want to miss his reaction when he gets pulled over! (High-Class Pranks. I should start a website for that!)

Got my depos in with 6k 55w hids and the same angel eyes. From what I understand the angel eyes are a little over 6k, a tad bit bluer than the headlights. I'll be installing mine tomorrow, can post pics after install. If you didn't get the 55w upgrade on hids then my pics are probably going to be brighter than the regular 30w.

sounds like a nice setup. be sure to post some beam pattern pictures too, like on a road or something. can't wait!

Nope, my front lip is still coming from germany and I decided to put on the headlights after the car gets out of the body shop. Since they're repainting that whole piece that's between the hood and the bumper I rather install the new headlights right after they do that. I'll post them up, just don't know exactly when. :(

I have the same setup, since buying the car I've been pulled over 36 times (Before people flip.. only one was for a moving violation :shifty) and not once has a cop said anything about my lights. You're safe, beyond a doubt.

Well, I drive a bit of a target...and apparently there is a drug dealer in my town that drives a damn near identical car to mine. I've been told this by two of the cops that pulled me over.

The reactions I've recieved have been quite funny..as apparently the other driver is of a different race, and there have been quite a few shocked police officers :shifty

haha that's hilarious. Can't keep the damn 5-0 off you, huh? I've gotten pulled over something like 10 times for speeding and another handful for stuff like registration. Seems cops love flashy BMWs (and mine's not even very flashy) :( I expect there will be even more hassle when I delete my front plate (illegal in Texas).

Sorry for the thread highjack...but this is a good one.

Story of the night I got pulled over 3 times:

I'd just bought the car, had it for 8 days on the temp registration (good for 12 days in pa)..so I had no plate on it. I pick up my buddies, planning on going to a pool hall about 45 mins away. We're heading through a small town, a cop pulls out behind me and follows me for about 3 miles. Pulls me over on the narrowest strech of road in the middle of the town. Comes out and tells me I don't have a plate on the car. I told him I had the registration in the window, that the car had just been purchased..he looks at it and then asks me for my insurance info/license. So as I'm getting it out of the glove box, he sees the title (had forgotten to take it out of the car) and asks to see it. I hand it over and he walks back to his car.

My friends and I sat for 45 minutes watching him in his car flipping through the manuals they carry trying to find something to nail me with. 4 or 5 times other cop cars came by and asked him what was up...finally the police chief drives by and starts screaming out the window tellin him to get my fing car off the side of the road.

So he comes out, hands me a ticket for having an unsigned title..told me there was no way I was the legal owner of the car, and I would not be able to get it registered in PA...The title was signed, and had a certificate of transfer stapled to it from the dealership i bought it from. So, an hour later we're back on the road.

We go out and play pool till 4am, on the way back down 22..we pass a cop that had someone pulled over. He pulls out behind me about a 1/4 mile from the exit I was getting off for breakfast :P The cop follows me off the exit and pulls me over on the side of the ramp. Comes up to the window with his gun out, his partner on the other side.. They ask us all to get out of the car, he takes me and one of the other guys to his car..his partner takes my other friend and stands him next to the bmw. The cop that had me by his car starts asking what we were doing, so I told him..he got all serious when I told him we were just coming from the pool hall...So he bends me over his car, pats me down..then does the same to my buddy. They asked to search the car..and by this point I found the whole deal so funny I said yes.

He goes back to my car, while the three of us sit on the cop car with his partner watching us...and he starts searching....he then comes out holding all of our cues, and opens em up, man handles them..and comes over and accuses us of being hustlers, because we had the cues in the car..and my one friend had 2 cell phones on him(?)..Shortly after we're continuing to the diner for breakfast..no ticket this time :P

6am we're headed back to my buddies house, and we're going down a back road (doing the speed limit). I turn a corner and pass a cop, at this point I'm reasonably aware/jumpy...and I look in my rear view just in time to see him skid to a stop and rip a U turn in the middle of this narrow back road. He gets behind me and follows me for 4 miles, till I got to a stop sign..so I stop for about 10 seconds then continue through, right as I get through he turns on his lights.

The 3rd cop of the night comes up to my door, and I've got all the paperwork ready including the ticket.. guy takes one look at me, looks at the paperwork...looks back at me and says "Man, you've been harrassed today haven't you" , "yes officer, this is the third time tonight" , "Go on, get out of here" , "Thank you officer".

It took 5 months but I beat the ticket..the cop was totally wrong and the judge let him know it :shifty
