the first rear pics arent accurate of hieght, the car was JUST pulled off the rack.
now the question, will 255/40/17 fit the car? i wanna run BFG KDW (cheap+good)

I have 255/40-17 bfg KDW 2's on my car right now and they don't rub. However, I am stock suspension. It's tough to tell. I am interested as well.

well i have bilsteisn and OE sports. (no drop, just stiffer)

No spacers, just factory staggered Contours. No rubs on body or suspension. On very hard right hand turns, my Stromung exhaust rubs on the tire just a tad. I would have never noticed it other than there was a small shiny spot on the muffler. However, the 8.5 rear wheel with the 255 will not fit in the front. I tried swapping them one day to see if I can run 255's all around and it rubbed on my stock shocks. A spacer would cure that but oh well.

Bust out the ruler and find out. The 255 should push the tire out approx. 5mm on each side so if you have over 5mm of clearance front the strut you might be able to get by. You also have to account for sidewall flex during turns, which might cause rubbing. Easiest way is to go to a slightly bigger spacer for peace of mind.

you'll most likely need a 10mm spacer. no biggy

True, that why I added the approx. 5mm part. He could always go on the manufacturers website to get the actual specs on the tire.
That isn't necessarily true because tire sizes are not really standardized. A 255 from one company is not the same as a 255 from the other. In fact, a 255 of one model might not be the same as a 255 of a different model from the same manufacturer.
For instance, the tread width between a 205/50-16 Falken ZE512 is nearly an inch skinnier than the same size tire in a Yokohama ES100.
To the OP: It looks like it might fit but it's going to be close. You might have to run a bigger spacer and/or roll your fenders a bit.

The 255's on stock 17x8.5's should rub the rear fender. I had to have my rears rolled. It shouldn't rub the inside rear, but if it does, a 5mm spacer will fix that easily. Also, a 10mm spacer will allow fitment of 255's on the front on either a 17x7.5 or 17x8.5 wheel with stock offset. That all being said, tire/wheel fitment varies slightly with each car, so take each person's experience with a grain of salt.
