Kind regards Prit TonyUK840 04-09-2008, 06:03 PM I think, but cant be sure, that euro CSi came with LSD. No other variants did for sure. I have a 3.91 LSD fitted to my 840 M62, which came off an e34 M5, and you can find ones with 3.64 ratio too if you want something less frenetic :) Excellent mod, which increase accelleration, and gives better cornering. JimmyBones 04-09-2008, 06:31 PM I believe that the 850s came with LSDs because the 750s also did and all the X40 cars that I have seen had Open diffs. pumpedTSI 04-09-2008, 09:00 PM regular E31 was open diff I believe........CSi had LSD and so did the 3.15 rear from the 750.... Auraraptor 04-09-2008, 09:53 PM Later E32 750s did not have LSD either. 840rod 04-09-2008, 09:59 PM Any markings you can tell by... besides the ones you'd leave on the pavement? Yo, Rod 8eights 04-09-2008, 11:07 PM I thought a 3:91 was too big for any 840 with a OEM gear box. revtor 04-10-2008, 01:59 AM pumpedTSI and TonyUK840 are correct. Only the 850CSi (both euro and US spec) came with LSDs. You can recognize the BMW LSD by a large "S" on top of the casing. The problem is that you'll need to lower it from the car until you can see it... I don't remember wether or not there were any markings on the bottom. Several people replaced the original diff with a LSD. Easy to test though if you are not certain about your car. Put the car in neutral and lift one (rear) wheel. If you can now turn the lifted wheel easily by hand, it's no LSD. MWrench 04-10-2008, 02:43 AM pumpedTSI and TonyUK840 are correct. Only the 850CSi (both euro and US spec) came with LSDs. The is also a ratio tag that will indicate if it is LS or not. Tag can be see on the rear cover and should be able to be viewed without pulling anything off. |
