Blow this up, print it, and trace around it.

it's on the way i haven't actually gotten it yet

layne, i KNEW you'd be the one to post something like that up...

what i'm looking for is the basic dimensions for the tubing so i don't have to make an extra trip to my car (it's about 40 miles away atm)

Just get about 5' of 1" or 3/4" x 1/8" wall tubing and some 1" angle iron for the battery tray.

Is that the aluminum version??

edit: I guess it is...

Bolt it up and take some measurements then go to town with the TIG welder, be careful not to get it too hot or it will warp pretty bad.

edit2: You want it triangulated something like this.

That one is in steel but the concept is the same.

I will take one when I get a chance, I have been concentrating on the headliner and I got all the glass out.

Here's the one that I modified from TEP for another idea of what to do with it...

The sub enclosure is actually bolted to the flanges I made, and the battery tray and is elevated just a bit above the floor so that the carpet can still slide in and out. The sub enclosure is built to match the rear seat support, including the notch out for the bump near the bottom. The box actually rests on the ledge in the corner .

I can honestly say I could not feel any difference when I installed one on my '82 but it's a great way to hold the battery in place. I welded one in the back of a 323i that doesn't have the most rust free body and the owner said it was a huge difference. I guess it depends on how bad your car NEEDS a rear brace.
