I heard Wheel Cleaner is actually harmful for your wheels. Because of the Chemicals. Is this True? I have a Machined face with a Chrome lip. What should I use?

Long ago, I have used a product called Quick Silver that I don't even know if they make anymore. It got 80-90% of the dust off but I was never satisfied and always just cleaned them by hand. Harv328is 04-09-2008, 12:35 PM I use Meguiar's Hot Rims almost every time I wash the car. I gets rid of any brake dust and grime with minimal touching. illogik 04-09-2008, 05:46 PM BMW sells a non-corrosive wheel cleaning gel that works pretty well. About the same price as Megs too. 98M3_4 04-09-2008, 10:06 PM BMW sells a non-corrosive wheel cleaning gel that works pretty well. About the same price as Megs too. The BMW labeled product is actually P21s wheel cleaner E Dubb 04-10-2008, 02:19 AM i would strongly recommend the eagle one wheel cleaner it works great!!!!! Jim@tirerack 04-10-2008, 02:04 PM I would say if you are willing to wash your car with the wheel cleaner then it would be safe for the wheels. Otherwise I go with soap and water and wax the wheels when you wax the car. Not too sure I would use any harsh cleaner on my paint! So, what to do about brake dust. My front pads are E46 ceramics so there's no such thing as dust; my rears are OEM for an E36 and the wheels get filthy in between washes. I think I just provided my own solution. Ceramics on the rear FTW! Jim@tirerack 04-12-2008, 11:00 AM That is the best option. Other than that a good was and soap and water is what I use. |
