Hi people,

I've officially crossed over to the dark side. :) Today I've placed my order for the 535xiT 6spd. The car has The following options (Canadian option): Premium, Technology, M Sport, Night Vision (special order), Nasca leather, Comfort Seats, Vented front Seats, Heated Rear seats, Sat Radio, USB. Black Leather, Bamboo Trim, and I'm deciding between the Platinum Grey Metallic and Space Grey Metallic --- what do you think?

I've never owned a bimmer before, so you can congradulate me on my first one. I was really dissapointed to find out that the "active steering" ... which was available on the 550i I've tested, and I personally think that BMW should have called it "telepathic steering" ... was not available on the xDrive ... Something I will have to learn to live without.

The car will be a May or June production and I should have it at the end of July

Almost the exact build we're considering in the US - are you sure about the active steering not available for CAN build? As far as I know it's a standard here - NOT an option but already part of the std features. Maybe yours is and you thought you had to request it?

Yes, I'm sure the active steering is not available on the AWD model. It is only available on RWD models and for a good reason. On AWD the computer would fry itself trying to figure out and correct the torque (on the front wheels) under slipperry conditions.

I'm leaning towards the Space Grey ... I think it shows lines better than the Paltinum Grey. Also, Canadian Sport Package is $5,200 which includes the M suspension upgrade. I don't think you get that in the US ... I could be wrong

Maybe we aren't talking about the same thing - in the US active steering is standard on the 535touring- which only comes in x drive. I don't see how it would cause any trouble for a computer when it's basically stiffer steering for higher speeds, simply computed as the mph goes up. In town it is super easy to turn especially very slow speeds or stiffer/tighter on the highway.

Love Space Grey Metallic ... it's what's on my 535xiT.
