I figured I'd post my first post here in the Texas forum since it seemed like the most appropriate.
Recently I've been looking at purchasing a new car and it's the 2008 528i. I just had a few questions and wanted to get some feedback from owners in the area.
1. BMW of Dallas the only way to go? I've been lurking and read all the horror stories about the other Dallas dealers in terms of the service department, is it the same for the sales department?
2. I checked KBB on the car/options I wanted and it said to expect only like $500 off MSRP. Is that the price I should be expecting?
3. Alphine White or Jet Black? :)

congrats!!!
BMW of Dallas is probably the preferred dealership around here but when you're looking for anything older than 2004 you're probably looking at private party or a smaller dealer. You should be able to get a good price on that model car.
I would normally say jet black but Jeff's white M3 opened my mind a little more. Do you have any links to cars you are looking at?

1. BMW of Dallas seems to be getting the more positive response. Classic is not a horrible dealer, its just that many of the members here (since they're enthusiasts or think they are) just seem to whine on and whine about how horribly they were being treated at Classic. Bottom line is....if Classic BMW never did their job correctly, they would be out of business.
2. BMWCCA members get an extra discount off the purchase of a new car. Look into that and figure out if their $40 yearly charge for a membership is worth it for you.
3. Alpine White > Black :D

Thanks for the ridiculously quick responses.
The model and options are here. (http://www.bmwofdallas.com/index.cfm?action=InventorySearch&subaction=SearchDetailNew&InventoryID=16575436&inventorytype=New) No pictures of it in the link but I'm sure you can find pictures of it somewhere. Are there any must have options that I'm missing? I saw the car when I was there and I thought it had just about everything I'd want.
Do I need to be enrolled in the BMWCCA for a certain period before the discount takes effect? Is enrollment quick? I've been ready to pull the trigger for a couple weeks now and after sitting in it I'm even more anxious but $500-$1500 off would definitely be enough to make me wait a bit longer.
The only reason I went to BMW of Dallas was because it was close by, but the guy working there (Can't remember his name at all, business card sitting around my desk somewhere) was extremely amicable and all around knowledgeable. Not to mention he kept telling me how driving a Lexus is like driving a couch, haha.

You may be eligible to receive an allowance based on the purchase or lease of a new or Certified Pre-Owned BMW through an authorized U.S. BMW center.
* A membership of one year (365 days) or more immediately preceding the purchase date of the vehicle is required to take advantage of this program.
* We are sorry but BMW North America will not be including the 1 Series in the Membership Rewards program.
* A member in good standing cannot have any lapse in membership during that 365-day period.
You have to have been a member for 365 days with no lapse in payment.
I would checkout Autobahn as well, it may be far but their attitude and service seems to exceed the other dealerships by far.
My vote is white unless you are extremely anal about swirl marks and the upkeep associated with a black car

I went to the opening of Classic and it was freakin awesome and that dealership is beautiful BUT they aren't paying for it by clipping coupons - call their parts dept sometime. We bought the X5 at BMW of Dallas and cannot say enough great things about them from service to sales. Just a thought that you might want to poll people that have actually bought a car at one of those dealerships and not just on ebay or private party and have heard this or that about either dealer.
Here is my actual experience: we went to look at X5's at Classic first because the dealership party was a blast. I walked in in Reefs, nice cargo shorts and a Polo t-shirt (and a credit score that got me tier 1 financing) and noone would talk to me. Off to BMW of Dallas...they offered to order pizza since it was 5pm and we were already 2 hours into the process. They've always given me a loaner and gone the extra mile...everytime.
