None of you will really care, but I'm pretty stoked at the moment. My week 17 build got bumped to a week 16 last week, and I just called and they said my car had started assembly as of this morning, which makes it a week 15 car.

They're not kidding when they say "priority 1". :-)

So, ah, I guess I won't be changing to the saddle leather. It's all good.

I am at the stage "produced but not shipped". It has been that way for almost a week. Does anyone who had a car built know how long it usually takes to get on a boat? And once it does how long it would be until I get it? The dealer said it should take 7 weeks total and it has been 4 and a half already. The wait is killing me!

On the contrary - thats GREAT NEWS!!! Haha, I remember the waiting game. It will be a long wait. But well worth it! Congrats

Expect the whole deal to take 6-8 weeks. From order to dealers door, my car took 5 1/2 weeks. Mine took about a week and a half to get on the boat. (some have waited 2 or 3 weeks) I took about 10 days to sail across the pond. Then it has to go through the VPC, and get delivered to dealer, etc. This is the torture that is waiting for you new BMW. Congrats.

cool !

My wife is waiting on hers, mid June. Did any of you consider flying out to Greenville and picking it up and driving home? I think we're gonna do it and maybe cruise the eastern sea board.

10 days to cross the pond! Ha. For me, it'll be closer to 25-30 days, including a trip through the panama canal. :-(

I did consider PCD (or PDS as BMW calls it). But that's 1400 miles from where I live, and as much as I'd like to get through the break-in period quickly, that wasn't quite what I had in mind...

Now, if it would have a significant impact on the schedule date, I'd be more interested. As in, if they didn't have to ship the car all the way to CA and then truck it to NM. I couldn't find any info on whether PCD speeds up the delivery process for west-coast deliveries. Anyone?

One of the few disadvantages of living in a land-locked state I guess. :)
Good luck man, hopefully the time will pass quickly

I'm in the same boat as you (err...well I guess not really)... But seriously, I ordered mine a month ago to the day, and it has been in "Awaiting Transport" mode for 12 days now. I check the OC site about 174 times a day at work too :lol3 Just fyi. I hate delivering bad news, but I'll sure to let you know when mine gets on a boat.

Of course, the website has been down now for going on 5 hours now (or at least it has been for me)...so who knows... :banghead:

My car is finally in transit - took 16 days to go from produced to en route but thankfully on its way!

So is mine as of yesterday. Maybe we are on the same boat. I hope that ship steps on the gas because I want my car!

I'm not entirely sure if TX-bound cars go to port Hueneme, CA, or somewhere on the east coast. NM cars go through CA, that much I know.

My car is scheduled to be finished as of tomorrow, the 15th. There are three west-coast-bound boats leaving Bremerhaven on April 20th, 21st and 25th. I'm hoping to make one of those, preferably the 1st one :-)

By the way, I never check the OC web-site. From what I hear it's a week or so out of date, so instead of checking it 174 times a day, I'm just calling the 1-800 number, say, 3 times a week. :-)

Edit: Uh-oh. I just checked the day that I ordered my car. April 1st. No joke.

Can you give me the 1-800 number since I don't have it? I have only checked the web site.

I just talked to my CA and he said my car is scheduled to come into the port between April 20-22. Then it will be another week before he gets it. So 2 to 2.5 weeks from today I should have it.

I heard that week 15 cars are being shipped in "The Titanic". Wonder if the boat will make it to the shore?

Curious, How much, if any, of a deposit do y'all have to put down to place an order????

I was told I could put as low as 500$, but I chose to put 2K.

I put down $1K. I'm hoping that will cover the floor-mats, but these days, you never know.

Seriously, though, my went into the paint shop on Saturday and is due to be completed tomorrow, the 15th. Awesome. Now I'm just hoping I get lucky and the car makes it onto the boat leaving Bremerhaven on the 20th. I think that might be ambitious though...

Can you then reject the car if it is not up to your expections??

Reason I ask, is , I had a bad experience with a car dealer (not BMW).

I can give a credit card number. Was told they will not charge till final signing, if necessary.

Any thoughts anyone....Thanks

If you are asking can you get your deposit back, the answer is YES by law. But why would the car not be to your expectation. I mean if they ordered the wrong thing, which is rare, then you have the right to wait 2 more months (or whatever time) till they reorder the right specs or you just take what they got or just take your deposit back and go elsewhere. If you mean that you didn't like the car even though it is exactly what you ordered and want to back out, then what can I say, by law they should give you your deposit back, but if I were a dealer, I'd give you a hard time for screwing me around, you should have ordered what you'd like to begin with.
Oh btw, the whole point of a deposit is that they charge it right away, otherwise what difference is it from you promising to pay them! :confused
I got back my deposit on an e46 M3 2 years after I put it down. The wait was that long and by the time my allocation came, I had changed my mind. The car was not ordered yet though.

I can think of a couple of reasons for rejecting a car that was ordered as spec'ed, although they're pretty rare.

1) Excess miles on delivery (very rare, and the term 'excess' is pretty subjective).

2) Some kind of repaired but undisclosed damage (or disclosed for that matter) that you find objectionable

3) Discovering that the car is missing the clutch pedal, and even though it was ordered that way, coming to the dawning realization that it was a tragic mistake and that you'd hate yourself for driving it that way. ;)

I think that about covers it. My car is finished production today!

Thank you for your response.

Saleslady said she would not charge till the finals. Said it would make her manager happy if she had the CC #.

Folks, I am ready to order and feeling scared because of past experiences. I need some reassurance.....

She's emailing me and I'll keep you posted...

Take it from me, if they have your CC#, they will charge you and then quote a misunderstanding if you complain. Make sure you have the funds. I mean the money will be applied towards your downpayment and fees so you are not going to lose it, and it won't be too much interest lost in 4-6 weeks.

Oh, I have the funds to pay cash.

I suffer from an anxiety disorder and want things to run smoothly...Thanks all.
