View Full Version : e21 guys...what do you think
Steinkek 04-08-2008, 03:04 AM I have always loved e21s and have considered doing a project. What do you guys think of this car/price?

I love how the project is looking and where it could go. Anyone have any idea what kind of work/$$$ would be needed to complete this beauty?
Rickysbmw320i 04-08-2008, 03:08 AM Wow,
I really like it!
undastan 04-08-2008, 03:12 AM Yea I agree, plus it looks like all the hard works been done.
If you don't buy it someone else will...
Big John 04-08-2008, 05:07 AM another 30 hours or work and perhaps a grand or so or more and you 'should' be in business.
sonomaGTLN2 04-08-2008, 05:57 AM Car definately has some potential!
wmesser 04-08-2008, 10:09 AM I've seen it in person, man it looks AMAZING now. I can't wait to see it complete.
Brent does some amazing work, not sure why he is not finishing this project, but YES, pick it up!
blitzed310 04-08-2008, 10:50 AM I'd buy it, its nearly almost done. Then I would give the Alpina center reflector to Blitzed310 as a welcome gift to the E21 Legion. That would be very generous of Steinkek.
jimdemonic 04-08-2008, 10:58 AM you are a shark
TheNeek 04-08-2008, 11:12 AM Great project.

ha ha ok. Well your car is my favorite e21 so..........i have to buy it first.
wayfast 04-08-2008, 01:01 PM looks really good.
Marquinho 04-08-2008, 04:38 PM If I didn't have so many projects already, I would be all over this. I think it has tons of potential and certainly will be a a different E21 (in the unique sort of way)!
uberpanzer 04-08-2008, 08:36 PM I like how it was a US car that has had the rear end welding already done to it. As long as all the work was done well (looks like it so far), then it should be fine after a nice bout of sanding, prep and paint.
wayfast 04-08-2008, 08:40 PM by the looks of his e12, it would of been sweet when finished

bensmall 04-08-2008, 09:14 PM looks sweet....fender flares n everything!

jjgbmw323 04-08-2008, 09:53 PM It seems like he already swapped an m20 and tranny in it, plus some wide freaking rims. I am not sure if I like the flares, on my ride, but I definately respect the work it took to get there. Props.
kdanielson 04-08-2008, 11:07 PM Love the wheel size and style, hate the color of them. I'm glad to finally see a set of those on an e21. The tires are too small for the 8" wide wheels-seems a waste on a track car. I love the rear sheet metal, I saved the pic for inspiration when I get the the back of my '82. Lots of work, seems a fair price for a solid, unique car.

Jester323 04-09-2008, 12:28 AM The M20 was swapped in by the pervious owner. But Brent (aka the Bimmer Butcher) does some amazing metal work. I wouldn't be concerned in the slightest about the quality of the metal work that has been done on the car to date.
This is E21enthusiast's old car. From what I've seen in the pics so far, Brent has fixed everything that Shawn screwed over on the car. I kinda wish Brent would keep it & finish it. He looses interest in projects really easily though. If he's wanting to sell it, odds are he's got his eye on an even cooler project. His '75 e12 has got to be one of the best mod'ed e12's I've seen.
waferman 04-09-2008, 12:56 AM Well, Brent has skills thats for sure. But the E12 was done by someone else, Tony bought it and was going to paint it and had the door panels off inside, then sold it to Brent. All he did was paint it and some interior work. I would like to see what he can really do by finishing the 323i! I wonder why he welded on a new rear end? Jester all ready put on a euro rear valence. Looks pretty heavy duty though. He should finish it!
wayfast 04-09-2008, 12:57 AM i thought the one he had jester put on was pretty shot?
Steinkek 04-09-2008, 04:02 AM Well i may just have to give him a call this weekend to go check it out. Im going to be on workin on a cruise ship, on 5 months off 2 months, so it would be a fun project for when im home doing nothing.
Thanks for the input guys.

Steinkek 04-09-2008, 01:36 PM Im a waiter.
bkburnout 04-09-2008, 11:43 PM Thanks for all the kind words about my cars/work,
I will probably end up finishing the e21, the only reason I put it up for sale is that I just bought a '87 535is for a daily driver and wanted to focus on tricking it out.
I have a hard time focusing on more than one project at a time!
Thanks again
Brent
Jester323 04-10-2008, 12:13 AM i thought the one he had jester put on was pretty shot?
It was, it was a complete waste of time, but he wanted to do it, more or less so he could screw on the Zender rear side skirt pieces, they don't fit right with the US rear skirt. There were big rust holes in them that were covered up by the skirts.
It could have been half way decent, but I know Shawn didn't protect the welds after I finished it. I'm actually embarrased that Brent would end up having seen my welds. I didn't exactly take my time, and Shawn didn't exactly take his time prepping. Still, Brent had to be thinking :rolleyes :nono when he started the tear down, thus the completely new & custom rear skirt.
bkburnout 04-10-2008, 12:20 AM Yes, the rear apron was in pretty sad shape, but its all fixed now and nearly ready for body work.
I plan on working on it more next week, I will keep you guys posted with the progress,
Brent

bkburnout 04-10-2008, 10:37 PM Its still for sale, someone should buy it, so I can finish my 535is!
Steinkek 04-11-2008, 03:33 AM Brent your cl link does not work anymore so i dont have a contact # for you. I would like to try to come see the car this weekend some time. I work in the afternoons on sat and sun.

The car has been completely converted to a euro 323i 6 cyl. all disc brakes. It has new suspension, new custom zero offset wheels and tires, custom fender flares, custom front and rear valances, and much more.
The car is completly rust free and very solid car, clean title in hand,
