Hello All,

We have brand new BMW Business CD43 radios in stock at 12v Electronics. These are NOT used or refurbished and come complete with the code card (with US and European codes), removal tool and Quick Start guide.

This radio is a great upgrade for the E30, E36, E34, E38 and E31. It will be plug and play for most models and will work with the HK or non-HK models. It will also control the I-Bus CD changer and can easily be upgraded to control your ipod or have a direct link for other audio sources like MP3 players, satellite radios-etc.

There is no other CD radio that will match your BMW's interior perfectly, improve the sound quality and have the ability to provide future upgrades like the CD43 Business CD. This radio is a factory BMW unit, and was an option on certain vehicles. Use it to upgrade your car from the original cassette, or replace an aftermarket unit that just doesn't look like it belongs there.

Models supported:

1988-1991 3-series (requires additional adaptors)
1992-1999 3-series*
1992-1999 M3*
1996-2002 Z3
1996-2002 M-Roadster/Coupe
1995-1998 7-series*
1989-1996 5-series (early models require additional adaptors)*
1990-1998 8-series*
Upgrade for other BMW models with modification.

*Controls the I-bus CD changer only. Mostly installed in 1996 and newer vehicles.

The forum member price is $484.99. Please enter promotion code e36cd43 at checkout to get the discount.

Wow, that's an incredible price for those. I hope you're still around when mine breaks.

Unfortunately, they never break. The only one I have ever seen come back was returned to us full of pennies and other coins.

It turned out that the owner's didn't know that their 3 year old was playing in daddy's M3 in the garage when nobody was looking. When we called the guy he said he was wondering how a "Barney" music CD got in there the week before. We sent the unit back to him and he has been happy since. (we kept the change)

+1 for 12v. I purchased my CD43 from them and couldn't be happier!

Thank you! We are going to have to put you on the payroll.

Will do, Tom. Best of luck to you guys!

PS. This is the BEST price you will find anywhere for a NEW CD43. Trust me, I did my research a few months back (and I even paid a hair more before they became supporting vendors). I think BavAuto sells it for ~$600 or so.

Scoop these up people! You won't see that price again.

Whoa...nice. I'll definately think about getting one for my E36 when the Panasonic unit I have breaks (probably soon). Kinda pricey, but not bad considering it's a brand new BMW unit.

Nice will this be able to play MP3 Cd's?

Also do you sell the cord to hook up to the ipod? This is very tempting, about how long will the GB go for? Thanks.

It will not play MP3 CD's.

The nicest way to connect an ipod is with the DICE unit. You will be able to control the ipod from the head unit and display text on the screen.

You can also get a simple auxillary input adaptor which will allow you to play the audio directly into the unit from any MP3 player, satellite radio etc.

We do not sell these units, but there are other vendors on this forum who do such as BSW and EAS.

This price will be available until our current stock runs out. We have been notified that the price will increase on the next shipment.

Not only will it look perfect, it also plays nice with aftermarket equipment such as amplifiers and speakers, so if you are ever thinking of changing the rest of your system down the road you will not have to replace it.

Many people have asked about the adaptors required to install this radio in a pre-1992 vehicle such as the E30.

The radio connector plug on these cars is different than the ones used on later model vehicles. Also the antenna connector was a "Motorola" style which was changed to the european style for newer models.

We have a kit in stock that includes the necessary harness connector and an antenna adaptor. There will be no additional shipping charge if it is shipped with the radio.

http://www.12velectronics.com/servlet/the-74/BMW-plug-cd43-antenna/Detail?sfs=cdcc6656

You can either wire this into your vehicle, or you can purchase a vehicle specific connector at your local electronics store for a plug and play system. These types of connectors are usually used to install aftermarket radios to the factory harness. All you will have to do is connect our adaptor to the one for your vehicle and plug it into your factory harness. The wire colors are standard, so the connections will be a breeze.

All orders placed by 3pm CST ship the same day.

I currently have a 4-channel amp powering my rear speakers and sub, and a 2-channel amp powering my front speakers. I really like the idea of replacing my old Alpine HU with the CD43 and I'm wondering how many preamp outputs the CD43 has (and especially whether it has a separate subwoofer output).

The CD43 does not have any preamp outputs, but if your amps accept balanced differential inputs you can adapt RCA plugs right to this unit, or you can use a good quality line output converter.

We have been notified that our next order will probably be going up about 10%. This is because these new units are becoming very rare and there are not many left in the world.

This price will not last for long. These units are getting very rare as they are not manufactured anymore. We will try to help with the price as long as we can, but I guarantee the price will be increasing as they become less available.

How about the sound quality? I have the H&K option. About four years ago I swapped in an Alpine 7xxx and the sound quality improved 10x (no kidding) over the stock cassette controller. I am considering going back to the factory look. Is the sound quality comparable?

I-bus is for 96 and later vehicles which I believe is OBDII cars.

The stock C33 cassette is a lower powered unit and the sound output was drastically cut to prevent noise problems in the car.

The CD43 uses a higher output and does not have these design restrictions built in. The noise problem was handled by the higher output and better quality components. This unit will definitely sound better than the C33 cassette, and the biggest improvement comes when you have the HK system.

What year and model car are you putting this in?

If you are replacing the C33 unit, the CD43 will control your CD changer.

If you are replacing a C33 radio, there will definitely be a difference. The C33 unit is made by Alpine, and the output power and frequency response was cut in order to prevent noise that is inherent in BMW's. The CD43 has a higher output stage and does not limit the frequency response like the C33 unit. This was accomplished by better internal components designed by Blaupunkt.

Other than this, the CD43 will fit and operate the same way. Since it was a factory option, it will match perfectly and give you new options for future upgrades like text display for ipod interfaces, better sound quality for amplifier uprgrades just to name a few.

It will control I-Bus changers only. These were installed in 1996 and up vehicles. You can replace your changer and cable with I-bus components, or if you have an i-pod or other MP3 player, you can get an interface for it which will replace the changer.

Got mine today :buttrock

Problem, though...On the quick start guide it says to enter the Euro code first (whether it's for U.S. or not) My Euro code has a zero as the last digit. After, trying to input a zero unsuccessfully three times, my radio is now locked.

It also says, for example, to enter a "3" to press the "1" button three times. Mine does not work that way. If i press the "1" button three times, it enters three consecutive "1s" onto the screen.

How do I enter a zero and how do I get the radio out of code lock?

It looks like your unit may have the wrong quick start guide.

When the word "CODE" appears, how many dashes are showing?

If there are 4 you need to enter the Europe code first as described in the guide. If there are 5 dashes, go ahead and enter the US code by following the instructions provided. Once you enter the US code, you are good to go.

The only problem now is that you will have to leave the radio on for 1 hour since you entered the wrong code 3 times.

I am truly sorry about this. We have fixed the guide problems, but a few radios did get the wrong guides. If you send me an email to tom@12velectronics.com , I will send you the updated guide and owners manual in a reply.

Sweet I am using my tax return to upgrade the sound system and am thinking of doing the head unit but don't want to lose the look of stock. IDK I hate the look of after market HU's but am debating if this would be worth while.

The reason for upgrading: Mid range speaker hit the shit fan so its broke. Going to overhaul the system as a whole. I know your as a vendor your supposed to support your products but would this be a move in the right direction for me? Would I notice a great difference in upgrading?

You can do a search on the CD43 unit, so you do not think I am biased. I think you will find that this is a very desirable upgrade and everyone who has one is very happy.

I will tell you that this unit will fit, look and function better than any aftermarket unit I have seen. You may not have dancing dolphins or flashing lights on the display, but this unit will compete or surpass the sound quality of most good aftermarket head units. Also these work great with aftermarket amps, ipod interfaces and auxillary input adaptors.

....but don't listen to me, do a bit of searching. There are plenty of happy customers in this thread alone.

Would I notice a great difference in upgrading?

....but don't listen to me, do a bit of searching. There are plenty of happy customers in this thread alone.

Tom

Hell..don't listen to him, listen to me - one of his very happy customers! I was in the same boat, looking for an upgrade but wanting to retain the stock looks. I couldn't be happier with the CD43. In fact, today I was driving home on a pitch black road admiring the amber cockpit of our e36's, and I couldn't help but stare at the CD43 (as it was displaying the song and artist from the radio) and admire it's sleek, perfectly matching looks!

C'mon now, this is starting to look like we are paying you. I told you we have no more change left from that unit. :)

I do check my mailbox everyday for my endorsement check...didn't you mention something about a signing bonus?;)

Bahh, I just think every e36 should have 2 things, Ellipsoids/HID's and a CD43!

Just ordered after reading through your thread one more time. Looks like a great radio @ a great price plus good customer service. Thanks. There was some problem w/ accepting my credit card. I tried that twice and then just went with paypal. Please make sure i dont have 3 CD43's on the way lol...Shipping wasnt too bad and i figure it would be about the same price of buying an aftermarket HU installed etc. Im in the military if that can help my shipping status :D Thanks again.

Hello Justin,

Ususally the problem with the credit card processor is that your billing address does not match what your credit card company has on file. I did check and you did only pay for one radio.

Thank you for the order and we will ship today.

Just to confirm, is the shipping address you provided on a military base or an APO, etc.? UPS does not ship to these areas, and I want to make sure there will be no delays because of this.

I do not live on base, no problems with deliveries. I live in a house in the city so its not a problem. Thanks for double checking my order, i appreciate it!

Tom,
I may have missed this in the thread so I apologize if this is a repeat. Will this unit control the factory CD-changer in my '95 ///M3? This is an amazing price for NEW CD43.
Best,
Tim

This will only control the I-bus CD changer found in 1996 and newer cars. If you wanted to use a CD changer, you would need an I-bus changer and cable.

If you can do without the changer, you will have the option of adding different ipod and auxillary interfaces, which you cannot do with your current M-Bus setup.

Tom,
Many thanks for responding to my questions about compatibility of the CD43 unit with my current "factory" CD-changer. I may very well opt for the CD43 + ipod configuration very soon.
Best,
Tim

Does this look anything like/work as a replacement for an E46 headunit? My brother needs something OE-looking that can display CD text. Ideally he wants to be able to use his steering wheel controls for an ipod integration.

For an E46, you will need this radio:

It will display text, use the steering wheel controls and keep all other features of your vehicle. Ipod interfaces are also available.

We just received a fresh shipment in today. They are now in stock. Unfortunately there was a price increase, but it is still a great deal compared to the dealer price.

Lol are these things really $500? I was really interested when I saw them at $380 or whatever they were a few weeks ago. Now that I got my tax return I'm ready to buy...I come back to this thread to see everyone hyping them up and "atta-boys" flying left and right and whatta ya know? $500!

Oh well, I'll be just fine with my HK speakers and C33.

Yes, unfortunately the price has increased with our new shipment.

Note to others: Please stop the "atta-boys" because I don't want to confuse people with the difference between good service and price. :)
