View Full Version : installing DDM headlights?
GottaLoveAvus 04-07-2008, 04:24 PM having trouble fitting these into the car. the stock headlights came out with no problem and these headlight just look like the dont fit at all!? it there some DIY i can try? and did anyone have this trouble as well.
thanks, stefan
artifact 04-07-2008, 04:28 PM I've had a little trouble also when fitting my old ZWK's and my current Depo's, but only on the drivers side light, they always seem to get hung up on the nosepanel.
Try getting the side closest to the nosepanel in first, then working the side towards the fender in. With enough wiggling they'll fit, but it can get a little frustrating if it's your first time installing euro style ellipsoids :)

They should fit. Just wiggle them around a little bit. Once you get them in you will understand. hah.
volcomnator999 04-07-2008, 04:37 PM when i first installed my depos i got one of my headlights stuck...and it wouldnt come out....get the side closest to the nosepanel and wiggle it in to the back....after that your gonna be popping headlights in and out lol
GottaLoveAvus 04-07-2008, 04:59 PM ill give it a shot this week its been chilly out lol

But seriously.. they fit it just takes some good old wiggling until you figure it out. It took me a while my first time too
stanksbeamen 04-07-2008, 06:00 PM Yes mine were a little difficult too. Just play with it for awhile and you'll figure it out. Gluck!
The-Great-328ic 04-07-2008, 07:47 PM I think the problem is the color of the car, mine fit perfectly
M3 PHANTOM 04-07-2008, 09:10 PM I had a hard time putting them in also but be EXTREMELY patient with it do not rush it :nono..ask me how i know
I broke my corner light tabs on the right side :(

banshee740 04-07-2008, 10:35 PM lots of patience and practice. i can get mine in and out easily now.

GottaLoveAvus 04-07-2008, 11:39 PM well im just looking for some nice cheap wheels but im stuck on what to get lol
GottaLoveAvus 04-14-2008, 11:28 AM worse fitments headlights i have ever seen! the corners didn't even fit on correctly and im not going to be running these on my car so no pictures guys sorry....
m3mobbin 04-14-2008, 11:59 AM I've got every set of DEPO's that I've installed on my cars and my friends cars to fit reasonably good, you just have to mess around with the 4 plastic mounting screws to line up the correctly with the nose panel, fender, and hood. Loosening/tightening the screws can move the light around quite a lot.
I would definitely try this as you have this problem on any cheap non-OEM light.

svginferno 04-14-2008, 12:17 PM i was re-seating my Depo's this weekend and i noticed that the headlight won't fit if two plastic screws that the headlight sits on are too high the headlight won't fit in.
also on the passenger side, i think it helps to have the passenger side plastic screws a bit up, not all the way up otherwise the headlight won't fit, as it allows for you to push in the headlight and make it flush w/ the nose panel and bumper.
they'll fit :) good luck, enjoy your lighting :)
euro96 04-14-2008, 12:34 PM you have to mess around with the screws that the bolts go into first...they might need changing. (the round plastic bits)
Mpowered95 04-14-2008, 12:46 PM every set of headlights I've bought from Bav Toys has fit like OEM. try them if you want. in fact, ill be installing another set on my buddies 97 M3 and ill take pictures if you'd like :buttrock
oh btw, Jose...

He has tried them, I think he's doing something wrong with the install..
BTW, Nice sig, way better then your previous two :P
DirtOval 04-14-2008, 01:10 PM sorry to hear. I had to adjust each headlight assembly to get them to fit. i guess becasue of the size differnce.
Did you adjust them?
forumjp59 04-14-2008, 01:12 PM Have u ever had a front end collision? I hit a deer 4 years ago and my nose panel isn't perfect, but I got them to fit just fine. Mess around with all the bolts including the lower one, they will fit! You will get the same light from any other vevndor, spend some time with these.
GottaLoveAvus 04-14-2008, 01:19 PM i tried a make them work and it just wasn't working out idk what was going on but it was a bad fit for both sides.

thanks bro, wait till the OEM 19s are on... 18s = :(
Mpowered95 04-14-2008, 01:43 PM thanks lol
are you putting them in upside down? lol jk i agree with the other posts that your nose panel (front end) might be screwed up. never seen a pair of lights that just didnt fit.
jskin1510 04-14-2008, 11:03 PM mine fit perfect when they are in but everytime i take them out it's hard to wiggle them back in. there is def a little trick to it that i don't have down to a science yet but you have to tilt it at like an exact angle and they'll fit in right.
svginferno 04-14-2008, 11:29 PM do they stick out a bit? and won't go in anymore? i think the problem might be the two plastic screws that the headlight sits on are too too high, try screwing them in a bit. and maybe the top plastic screws are too far out while you're trying to stick it in.
